i have just read it and also read the Q&A section on elenin but no mention of it breaking up
seems NASA last update was 16th August

But NASA seams determined to avoid discussing Elenin any further. So we will just have to wait and see.

That can't be Elenin. Having checked on Stellarium one can see that Elenin was still far below the horizon on 4 AM on September 2. In fact it didn't rise until about 8 AM.

We've actually been discussing this on another thread. It turns out he was using a rent-a-scope in Australia, so this could be Elenin. However, the scope he is using does not have an anti-blooming gate. This means he can't really make any conclusions about the condition of Elenin as at that size pixels are going to bleed into one another.
