I am not a prude by any means, however I would have an issue sharing an open locker room shower with guys, straight or gay... There are some places (especially in public or work environments) that are better segregated by gender and not by sexual orientation. Call me old-fashioned, but the shower is one of those places.

I agree that We should keep separate the Men from the Women. Each sex should have the three showers I mentioned above.

Exchange "Man" with "Woman" and the same thing.

I would prefer to serve with the best sharpshooter there is.

Clean or Dirty.

My life is my life. I want to live.

Smelly armpits isn't going to kill me, but a bullet will!

May I ask for a 4th shower? The private one?

So I can take care of my ...ahem...'business'...without feeling like people are laughing at me?

My final thought...I am going to side with a former point made in this thread
I personally don't want to shower with anyone, man, woman, robot, etc...I would prefer some plastic wrap around any shower so I can have my private time. But, if I am forced to take a community shower, I am in and out as quickly as possible and no time to look at other guys to see if they are looking at me...

Which brings me to my last point...how do you know if someone is looking at you in a public shower anyhow, beyond looking at them also, and erm...wouldn't they then think you are checking them out?

Eyes down soldier...soap up, wash off, towel off, get dressed, and stfu...stop looking around for reasons to get offended (figuratively and literally).

Sorry for the comic relief everyone but let's lighten up a bit.

My joke was funny, you gotta admit.

When I was in football I avoided the shower wanna know why?

It wasn't the naked guys that bothered me.

It was the towel snapping violence that ensues ! Talk about painful!

Shouldn't it be like the movie "Starship troopers" where both genders shower harmoniously together?

Each time this topic comes up, someone inevitably brings up this movie (stupid movie, btw)...

I have one question though: what are the stats. with regards to sexual violence against women in that scenario, compared to to the real-life stats. of violence against women in today's military?

Until that issue is resolved with regards to the "culture of violence" and the inability to address it purposefully and with intent to eradicate it once and for all, this point of relating to that scene in a fictitious flick, is moot and actually, rather juvenile.

Greetings,

I'm straight, BUT, when I was about 30 yrs old living in LA I shared a house with 2 gay guys. They use to kid me about being straight, but in the two years I was there they never made a pass at me nor did any of their friends.

Come to find out must gays are not interested in straight men, BECAUSE straight men are not interested in having sex with a man and to force the act would not be satisfying to them. Kind of like having sex with a woman who really doesn't want to have sex. It's not fun. Some husbands know about this.

Now that being said, yes there are exceptions, but then there are always exceptions to everything.

I don't think there will be as many problems as there is with army men forcing themselves on army women.

And men do notice in the shower, sort of a quantity, macho thing. And who hasn't snuck a second look when some stud comes in hanging to his knee. Poor guy. Which brings up the fact that some, and probably most, men who are way too large eventually choose(?) to be gay because they can't have intercourse with a woman. I ran across that too.

Remember, sex is a psychological process. You have to mentally process it before you can act on it.

And all you gay bashers, guess what, in some life time(s) you too will get to enjoy your favorite hated perversion. It's part of learning to express unconditional LOVE.

If someone gave me permission to walk into a shower room with thirty naked women showering and rubbing soap into their wounds, I would be a very very happy man. But hey, I'm male and its natural male behavior.

Except lets change it...

If you gave permission to a homosexual man to walk into a shower room with thirty naked men showering and rubbing soap into their external wounds...... well surprisingly this part hasn't changed, you would still have a very very happy man on his way to the shower block. (well hopefully not TOO happy)

The above role reversal demonstrates an example of plausible conflicting scenarios and contradictory elements within the governments doctrine of political correctness.

Shame on all western governments abroad for governing a broken system and intruding on the civil rights of everyone connected with this thread. Your madness will be your undoing.

Just a friendly reminder...

...not to let this thread turn into a gay-bashing free for all.

If this thread can be discussed civilly and without hateful rhetoric, it will be allowed to remain open. Consider this fair warning.

Frankly, I think personal showers is a fine option. But... If funds are tight for things like showers and One HAS to shower communally, the three - one for Straights who care, one for gays that care, and one for those who don't care and just want to be clean - for each sex is the optimal.

Closet gay are we???
Bit of an over reaction....id love to see you try and beat a gay marine....haha he would lay you out then bum rape you
I have fought with marines. I was not the one laying on the floor at the end.

Pics or it didn't happen.

People on the internet who brag about their fighting prowess usually are the first ones to be owned in a fight.
We are talking 25 years ago. Even had I taken pics(who holds a camera while in a bar room brawl?), I doubt I would still have them 25 years later. I still have only a few important things from back then. Pics of the various brawls I was in would not have interested me enough to hold onto. I have the scars to help me remember.

So, by your logic, I must be a closet socialist too. Right? A closet muslim? Sometimes when you are morally opposed to something, it just means that you find it to be wrong. It does not mean that you clandestinely support their position.

I think it should all be integrated. All sexes, all sexual preferences, everything and everyone. The stumbling block, I believe, is that women still aren't allowed to serve combat roles. This is the main problem. Women ought to be able to do any job in the military, including combat. A woman is allowed to be Commander in Chief of the armed forces, why can't females sign up for infantry? I think that divide is what precludes the showering issue, both between male and female and between straight/gay.

If women could perform combat duty, the biggest barrier between the sexes would fall, and it would pave the way for further integration. Communal showers would follow eventually, and everyone would stop being so weird about being naked.

It just doesn't make sense. In the Marines, we were all riflemen/riflewomen first, no matter what your job was. Females are trained for combat just the same as males, and homosexuals are trained the same as heterosexuals. Evey Marine is expected to leave boot camp as a basically trained infantryman. But then they say females can't be placed in a direct combat role. I see no logic behind this.

The belief that women shouldn't be in combat has got to go before any other progress can be made towards a fully integrated military, both in and out of the shower.

Men can not control them selves around naked women.
Straight men may have the same concern about homosexual men. Personally, if I even caught them peeking I would beat them within an inch of their life.

You would beat someone within an inch of their life for peeking at you in a open shower? Sounds like you have your morals right!

It's not up to us to make that call, leave it to the hetrosexuals in the military to decide and what they decide is not our business to comment on.

IMO, they should shower together.
I don't think homosexuals in the army are there to look for a man.
Yeah they might take a peek, but just a peek if they want to want to live.

On the other hand, it isn't OK for women to be naked in the shower with men.
Men can not control them selves around naked women.

this may be the most hypocritical post i have ever read. how can you on one hand say that men can't shower with women because "men can not control them selves (that should be one word btw) around naked women" but at the same time say it should somehow be different for gay men showering with naked men? it's the same thing. gay men are attracted to men in the same way that straight men are attracted to women. you are so small minded and ridiculous, i don't even feel i have to explain myself any further. if you can't understand the comparison, you shouldn't even be debating. that is all.

Why did you reply twice?? Once about you being able to beat a gay marine (lol,haha)....and then second post about not being a closet homosexual??

Amen brother. That is why I have not even bothered to respond to such absurd statements.

Really??? Why reply to me then...twice???

Gay men are not interested in straight guys as someone else pointed out....what difference does it make if you're showering with a group of straight men or a group of straight men with a couple of homosexuals?? They arent going to make you gay....they arent going to rape you....you cant catch homosexuality.

I know gay men...i doubt you would be able to tell unless they told you. Do i care they are gay...NOPE, what they do in life to make them happy has nothing to do with me. Have they ever raped me...NOPE. Have they ever flirted...yea sure...but im straight and they do it for laughs, im not offended by it...because...im an adult, and im not afraid of homosexuals...if anything its a compliment...but mainly its just messing around because...it can be funny

Ive been chatted up by gay men whilst out and about, i never thought "if I even caught them peeking I would beat them within an inch of their life. ".........thats just a pathetic statement made by a person who fears homosexuals. Just hope Shad smith ot Rod Llaneza doesnt look at you with lust eh...you would be in for a heck of a surprise
You would be the one saying "please, stop...it hurts...ouch..wheres my teeth." When you woke up from being knocked TFO, you may rethink what you would do to a homosexual in the future

Homosexuals are humans, they deserve the respect we all wish for and deserve.

They shouldnt be told they cannot fight in their armed forces because of shallow minded bigots like yourself...they shouldnt be told they have to have their own special GAY shower rooms because your offended by what they do behind closed doors....or that they may look at you...ooooh big deal!!

Im suprised the mods have allowed this thread to stay open.....just an attack on homosexuals
