But assault is also physical as evidenced by all the examples we have here. It is pretty interchangeable.
I think the definition, coupled with the description of assaulting an officer is enough evidence of that.

Two new incidences. The first, a cop throwing a woman waiting on an ice cream truck down to the ground for no reason.
The second, a cop open hand slapped and took down a kid with down syndrome for have a suspicious bulge in his waist band. When he tried to pay down the kid, he got scared and tried to run so the cop slapped him down (luckily he didn't shoot him as likely all the cop lovers in this thread would say it would be justified). The bulge turned out to be the kids colostomy bag. When asked if the cop didn't know the kid had downs syndrome he said "i'm not a doctor."
I just put that here as more evidence for my "most cops are bad, and ALL of them are ignorant theory."
