Praying in the streets of Paris is against the law starting Friday, after the interior minister warned that police will use force if Muslims, and those of any other faith, disobey the new rule to keep the French capital's public spaces secular.

Claude Guéant said that ban could later be extended to the rest of France, in particular to the Mediterranean cities of Nice and Marseilles, where "the problem persists".

Why do people pray in the streets lol?
Do they get permission from the city first, like parades?

Why would anyone want to pray in the streets and clog the road?

But I think the approach is stupid, he said it hurts people's sensitivities, why even go there?

Just say the roads are for driving into and you are not allowed to obstruct traffic, it's that simple.

What was the need to bring political correctness into the mix?

Sounds like a shot in the foot to me

Ive not seen many christians praying in the streets, i have seen them annoying people with religious propaganda though (repent and all that crap). I think this is more aimed at muslims, who will, and do, pray anywhere they like if they are out and need to pray.



Imagine what France is like with all the immigrants there......im sure you would see this on a daily basis in France.
Go to Calais.....its a dive, its full of immigrants from muslim countries. They have it worse than here in the UK.

if they pray on a road. run them over.

This is not attack on religion. This is simply saying that you can't block a street and impede traffic to have a prayer meeting.

They arent stopping and praying as i thought they were also.

They are organizing HUGE groups that take over entire streets...thousands of muslims descending on a street and shutting it down...traffic as well.

Id be majorly pissed if this were happening in the UK. Im glad the French government has the balls to stand up to these people. ITS NOT A MUSLIM COUNTRY.

Look at my other post a few posts up....or type muslims praying in paris, into youtube and take a look. Why should local non muslim people have to put up with this?? Well done to the French, lets hope our government (UK) has the same balls when it starts happening here more frequently.

No doubt Guéant wants to score some points with some political group, so is aiming this at Muslims.

I don't agree with making prayer in the streets illegal. If I were a praying person, I'd pray wherever I want to. Prayer isn't the problem, it's BLOCKING the STREET. Enforce THAT.

It's really cool, but I don't do it anywhere, anytime...no I wait to be somewhere where I don't get in the way of the liberty of others...

I know I sound harsh but, I think, like always, the problem is that some people must of prayed really in the wrong places. So now, even smart Muslims can't pray where they deem a good place if that place is part of public property.

Laws are always there because of the stupid minority, fact.

Thats France for you. Like anyone is really going to pray in the street and get hit, this is just a push to outlaw Faiths, as you will see eventually. I predict that in the near future all religion/faiths will be outlawed.
