Spanish Town Becoming "New Mecca of the Most Radical Islamism"

The municipality of Salt, a town near Barcelona where Muslim immigrants now make up 40% of the population, has approved a one-year ban on the construction of new mosques. It is the first ban of its kind in Spain.

The moratorium follows public outrage over plans to build a massive Salafi mosque that is being financed by Saudi Arabia. Salafism is a branch of revivalist Islam that calls for restoring past Muslim glory by forcibly re-establishing an Islamic empire (Caliphate) across the Middle East, North Africa and parts of Europe such as Spain, which Salafists view as a Muslim state that must be reconquered for Islam.

Much of Spain was ruled by Muslim conquerors from 711 and 1492; Salafists believe that the territories the Muslims lost during the Spanish Reconquista still belong to them, and that they have a right to return and establish their rule there – a belief based on the Islamic precept that territories once occupied by Muslims must forever remain under Muslim domination.

Sacrificing common sense on the altar of multiculturalism, the previous Socialist government in Salt secretly gave permission to the Salafi Muslims to build the mega-mosque, which, with four stories comprising 1,000 square meters (11,000 square feet) accompanied by towering minarets, would be the largest Salafi mosque in Europe. Read More.

"...territories once occupied by Muslims must forever remain under Muslim domination." That's a problem for me, and according to this article and many others, it's becoming a real problem for Europeans in nearly every country. Muslim immigrants have no interest in integrating into their host countries; this is an invasion pure and simple, only instead of using swords as they did hundreds of years ago, the weapon of choice is the PC policies of Western countries.

Really, I don't have a problem with Muslims immigrating, and then integrating, into a new country; but that isn't happening. As the article points out, once a Muslim population becomes dense enough, in come the clerics wanting to enforce Shariah law which they consider to be above the mere laws of men. That, to me, is not acceptable; the major reason being, sharia law doesn't apply only to Muslims, but to non-Muslims as well. Imagine if Detroit, with one of the largest Muslim concentrations in the US located in the suburb of Dearborn, were suddenly to come under Sharia law. Oh wait...

See what I mean? I'm trying to craft this post so as to avoid any hint of racism, but what's happening is a fact. Muslims are not integrating into their host countries, they are taking them over a block at a time. It's not so much the fact that they are Arabic or practice Islam, as it is that once established they insist on having Sharia law. It's happening in Minnesota too, where Muslim cab drivers (who comprise 75% of the cab drivers at the Minneapolis airport) refuse to accept anyone transporting alcohol, or a blind person with a guide dog, as a fare.

Why should I care if others wish to subject themselves to Sharia law? I don't. But when it affects me and my way of life, in my own country, then it becomes a problem. I go to Detroit quite as bit. If my wife or daughter accompanies me, will they at some point have to wear a hijab or other head covering if we drive through a particular neighborhood? If I fly to Minnesota to visit a friend (I really do have a friend in St. Paul) will I have to give up the expensive Single Malt whiskey I brought, or walk to his house from the airport because a Muslim cab driver - operating a publicly licensed conveyance - was offended that I had it in my suitcase?

I guess what it boils down to is this: If Muslims want to live here in the US then they have to live by our laws and abandon any hope of implementing Sharia law in any form, in any place, in the United States. As far as Europe goes, I think that we are seeing our future. The people of the European countries have been experiencing this for years and they are fed up. EDL? Geert Wilders? Twenty years from now will we see the rise of a political party in the U.S. dedicated to stemming Islamization like those in Europe? God, I hope not.

So what is the answer? I don't know, I'm just a dumb Jarhead. But there has to be a way people of different faiths and ethnicities can live together peacefully without imposing their will over each other, where common ground can be found that everyone can agree upon. Or am I just whistlin' Dixie?

Reminds me of some other country...what is the name...it escapes me. I think it's somewhere ESE of Spain. Maybe it'll come to me.

Yeah, I wasn't going to mention that in this thread.

What did the Spanish expect! They let foreigners who abhor their culture and open society to do the dirty work native Europeans don’t/wont do and when the bottom falls out they find themselves hosting a large hostile and entirely alien population. Couple this with their lack of procreation and the immigrants abundance of children and it’s a recipe for continental assimilation … by the immigrants.

It too late for most of Europe unfortunately.

Set nail on board, raise hammer, hit nail directly on head. Thats a great article, and if there are doubters about the muslim desire to create the caliphate please look into the cordoba project. The project's name itself is taken from the muslim domination of spain and signifies the conversion of a grand christian cathedral into the cordoba mosque. This is also the project that was attempting to finance the "world trade center mosque". Europe is washing down the drain im afraid and its people are enabling it by allowing political correctness to rule the land. Surprisingly France was the first country to look at what is happening and take measures to protect it's culture and heritage. I guess that old viking bloodline still flows in the Francs after all. I believe the Germans are in close pursuit of the French and I commend both nations for recognizing what is happening with multiculturalism failures.

I don't blame the French, who put up with weeks of rioting and arson at the hands of Muslims. At some point, order has to be restored.

So they flee their countries to escape tyranny, oppression, yet they bring with them the same lifestyles, dress and culture they left behind?

Or are they being dispersed to spread their beliefs?

Which is it?

Hmmm.....

Very interesting analysis you have presented.

There have been even more overt pushes for Sharia Law in places with concentrated Muslims like, as you mention, Michigan, and also Illinois to name a couple.

While I don't affiliate with any particular political party, I do like some of Ron Paul's views; however, could too much power given to individual states, however unlikely, result in a state adopting Sharia Law--even in the US.-- Is that correct/incorrect?

ETA: Or in a libertarrian ruling party will the 1st amendment still trump states' rights of choice?

Maybe a bit of both.

It's called double-dipping, and it is human nature when it comes to money/survival.

Not applying to all cases, but why wouldn't one want to seek a better economic situation for one's self/family if the opportunity exists?

Make more money, relatively speaking, in the US.

And have your dual country/mosque/islamist organization give you some money through furthering the cause in a western country as well?

hmmmm....indeed...

And by the way, witness on a US bound to Mid-East flight: please note the number of women that make their way into the restroom to change from their tight jeans/shirts into covering before arrival....

I think it is a bit of both as the poster above opined. I can hardly blame anyone for wanting to leave a country where everyone has a cellphone but proper sanitation is a problem, where forced marriage to a cousin is a tradition, and women's rights are non-existent. Getting away from the religious aspects, if that is possible, many of the countries from which Muslims flee are true tyrannies, where speaking your mind can get you and your family killed.

So no, I don't have a problem with Muslims immigrating to the US (I can't speak for Europe,) but if they do then I think they should leave the Old World problems and legal systems in the Old World, and not cart that baggage into my home town.
