'Wi-fi refugees' shelter in West Virginia mountains

www.bbc.co.uk

Dozens of Americans who claim to have been made ill by wi-fi and mobile phones have flocked to the town of Green Bank, West Virginia.

There are five billion mobile phone subscriptions worldwide and advances in wireless technology make it increasingly difficult to escape the influence of mobile devices. But while most Americans seem to embrace continuous connectivity, some believe it's making them physically ill.

I'm not sure whether these people are hypochondriacs scared of an ever changing world or these are signs of the times. What I also found interesting/strange is when the article talks about the radio quiet zone so as not to interfere with the number of radio telescopes in the area and says "Others are operated by the US military and are a critical part of the government's spy network." If this were true do you advertise it on a well monitored 'news' site?

I know there's people out there with more insight than my humble self in this field so I'll turn it over to you...will we see more of this? Is it a suppressed condition? Has anyone had similar symptoms?

Don't they realize the sun on a cloudy day causes more damage than wifi can ever do all their lifetime?

Don't they know there may be more dangerous things in WV than cell phone towers and WiFi signals?!

I do wonder how much damage these signals are doing to us, especially with the recent reports of cells phones and cancer.

Actually, there's more radiation (RF) coming out of a pre-HD era television, a microwave oven, a cell phone, a cordless telephone and so on and so on, than there is from a wi-fi transceiver. My guess is yes, hypochondriacs. Or possibly just schizophrenics. Or a combination of the two.

mobile phones have been around now for about 20 years or so. do you know anyone that has become ill or died from damage caused by using one? me neither. a lack of information is the cause of peoples worries, not the systems themselves.

or they could realy be getten sick and the only thing they know thats changed or has been added into there daily lives is what they have said. im not saying i agree but i understand there deductive reasoning. all i know is cancer is being seen more and more along with a myriad of other problems.

I agree to a degree however, they have not been an integral part of peoples lives for 20 years and there definitely was not 5 billion mobile subscriptions in the world 20 years ago.

What I understood them to say was EMF waves were affecting them. It is quite possible some people could be sensitive to them. We know that EMF's are used by HAARP for many uses.

Wi-fi routers emit RF energy, not Electromagnetic energy. Most operate above the 2.4 GHZ band. So it would have been some other device causing it, not wi-fi routers, which are low in transmit power anyway. Most drop signal after a 500 foot radius.

I'd rather have a tower near my house than a meth lab.

Life is full of tradeoffs.

I think wifi, cell phones and other electronics can have an effect on our brain health. I think fluorescent bulbs make me drowsy, I minimize the use of them in my office.

The absolute best sleep I have ever had was during a week long hiking trip in the Oregon wilderness. I had some of the most vivid dreams during that time, and much more energy than usual.

I think EMF and/or other energies being transmitted mess with my sleep abilities. I need to do more reading on the topic, but don't these things operate at a similar frequency (might be the wrong term) as some of our brain waves?

The title of this article is sensational, but it seems to contain valid references. I am just about to leave so I don't have time to find a better source.

The data showed that when the cell phone was transmitting, the power of a characteristic brain-wave pattern called alpha waves in the person's brain was boosted significantly. The increased alpha wave activity was greatest in brain tissue directly beneath to the cell phone, strengthening the case that the phone was responsible for the observed effect.

That's something I've wondered about for a while now. Think about all the energy waves that are passing through your body right now...

TV channels, radio stations, cell phone signals, wifi, all those waves running through your body continuously. All relatively modern developments, so studies determining their effects haven't had the time to catch up. I have no proof to back up my suspicions, of course, but I can't imagine that it is good for you.

Probably pointless, given all the other energy sources I'm literally bombarded with, but I still connect to the internet with a good old cable. No doubt my neighbors porn is still passing through me, though. They may be on to something there in WV. I wouldn't judge them for it.

Should of just bought an orgonite pendant, and some orgone.
I'm around idiots with their phones and laptops, all day long.

It doesn't have any effect on me, it doesn't effect you as long as you have orgone.

i read some graffiti on the underside of a bridge once that said, "One Life = One Chance"...

Now something from Jazz Rocker, Joe Jackson...

Everything
Everything gives you cancer
Everything
Everything gives you cancer
There's no cure, there's no answer
Everything gives you cancer

Don't touch that dial
Don't try to smile
Just take this pill
It's in your file

Don't work hard
Don't play hard
Don't plan for the graveyard
Remember -

Everything
Everything gives you cancer
Everything
Everything gives you cancer
There's no cure, there's no answer
Everything gives you cancer

Don't work by night
Don't sleep by day
You'll feel all right
But you will pay

No caffeine - No protein
No booze or - Nico tine
Remember -

It's a peculiar thing, the spy business. There are parts of it which are not secret because they don't need to be. We know where their broadcast stations are, and they know where ours are, and that has been true since at least WWII. A lot of people do, because when your broadcast is encrypted in an unbreakable form (usually the most secure possible, the one-time pad), it doesn't matter if people know about it. Look into numbers stations for more information on just how not hidden certain aspects of the spy communication network are.

Erm, thats because the fluorescent bulbs are not pure light, as all fluorescent lamps, pulsates at a very fast rate, thats why some people gets affected by them, its not that they emit some signal. Makes one wonder, it happened to me couple of times and took the time to search or google it, you work on that sort of environment and never bothered to look?
