Strange cloud over Norfolk this morning

Has anyone got any idea what caused this formation. There were two clouds/holes quite a distance apart but at the same time this morning. Both were almost perfect circles with other circular clouds within it. Never seen this before.

It kinda looks like something with a cloaking device in effect. Interesting nonetheless.

You don't happen to have any more photos, do you?

It's a punch hole cloud, you can see some here, or just google punch hole clouds and search images.

I have seen pictures of clouds like this before, and I believe they are considered to be formed naturally under certain conditions. Still, it is an interesting photo, Thanks for posting.

Just a questiom, it states that they are"believed" to have been made by planes passing through thin layers of cloud but if that was true. Wouldn't we be seeing a hell of a lot of these clouds on a daily basis?

or do we? Cause I've enver seen one and I live quite close to an airport.

Wow! I had heard of punch hole clouds but didn't connect that this could be one.

I think that building is just a reflection from a computer. I am ina gov bullding so nothing else around. No planes go that close to our building either.

There's an interesting site here that explains how hole punch, or to give them their proper name "fallstreak clouds" are formed, both naturally and by aircraft contrails.
