Well IF true, this is getting real serious, real fast.

Haaretz

Turkey develops new F-16 warplane system that will allow it to hit Israeli targets (Ch. 10)

Report: Turkish warplanes allowed to fire at Israeli targets

Ankara's Star Gazete says country's new F-16 radar system modified to recategorize Israeli targets as hostile. Order said to come directly from PM Erdogan's office; naval, submarine radar systems to be changed next

So either a coup d'etat will happen in Turkey or it could hit the fan.

An important date is October 1. Cyprus and Israel are planning to start drilling oil and natural gas in contested waters, Turkey is sending warships.

More on that :
Report: Turkey to defuse Israeli Navy weapons

Turkish newspaper claims Ankara ready to deploy three warships to Mediterranean Sea; instructs them to intercept Israeli navy vessels in international waters, neutralize their weapons system

According to a report, Turkish navy echelons decided that if one of its ships crosses paths with an Israeli vessel outside of the latter's territorial waters, it will be instructed to come within 100 meters of the ship and neutralize its weapons system.

Totally not dangerous uh?

And since Turkey has a major and up to date army... America is gonna need a draft to contain it... especially if Iran, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt joins it.

WW3, here we go, thanks much European Union for treating Turkey like trash.

Well if these reports are true ,it certainly does seems like a declaration of war.

I've tried to find some other sources for this other then Jewish ones ,but couldn't find any ,so hopefully ,it just pro Israel alarmists getting excited.

As for NATO kicking turkey out ,its not as simple as that ,for a start ,Israel is not a NATO country were as Turkey are ,and as much as a lot of people say NATO is wholely controled by america ,its not.

This has become a serious political headache for the Americans ,and NATO will try and stay out of this as much as they can i believe, its really not in NATO's interest to get involved.

They replaced the software to recognize Israeli airplanes as hostile instead of friendly. Big deal. How many time has a Turkish airplane met an Israeli one in the skies? None. It's not like it's going to change anything, unless Turkey decides to try and invade Israel's airspace or the other way around, and we all know that is not something that is going to happen.

As for the Turkish ships that will defuse Israeli ships of their weapons (lol), that is just a toned down threat from the previous one, that was "we will protect aid ships and shoot at Israeli ships if we must!". If anything, their naval is toning down their aggression. Not that there was any at firstplace.

You really need to read what they are saying to understand they don't mean anything. All they are saying is that they are going to escort aid ships in international waters and fall back once they have reached Israeli sea borders.
Is this your declaration of war?

Give me a break.. and then you have people claim that this is from an Israeli alarmist source.. lol. Claiming it's from an alarmist source after saying this BS is a declaration of war.. Hypocrisy.
You have Vitchtilo saying WW3 here we go, and Maverick saying this is a decleration of war. Who are the alarmists? Amusing indeed.
Not to mention that the reports have first appeared on Turkish papers, so.. what?

Well this is now the EU fault? LOL! Simply unbelievable how unrelated innocents take the blame nowdays.
What has the EU to do with the fact Turkey is acting all big before the UN report is published that will say the IHH is a bunch of goons with no real purpose but to incite violence between the nations?
Do you also blame EU for Turkey's replacing of software to recognize IAF jets as hostile?

Although I wont jump to the declaration of war conclusion, you on the other hand are totally understating the acts of the Turkey. The situation is not a nothing to see here moment, or business as usual. It is indeed pretty serious. When you change your radar and ships systems to change from friendly to hostile your making more than just a bold statement. Countries just don't do that on a whim every other day.

Add to that the fact this article isn't discussing simply escorting ships through Gaza strip . This article discusses ships going into international waters and neutralizing any Israeli ships they encounter. It seems quite obvious they will run into Israeli vessels. The question is, Is this chest thumping or will they really do something when they run into those vessels?

Turkey is morphing into an Islamic state at a very rapid pace and picked up the pace at the end of July early August. They have purged the Old Guard to pave way for the new regime. I would certainly expect to see their NATO membership card expiring very soon. Erdogan had 43 Generals arrested!

The government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan is to follow up its purge of the senior ranks of Turkey’s armed forces with constitutional changes to bring the previously powerful military firmly under civilian control.

Having brought the army to heel politically in a sequence of bruising crises, it now intends to curtail the high command’s financial and judicial autonomy, and start moving Turkey’s 1m-strong forces from a conscript to a professional army, according to a senior figure in the ruling Justice and Development party (AKP).

Mr Erdogan last week imposed new commanders on the military after its chief of staff and the heads of the army, air force and navy resigned in protest at the arrest of 43 serving generals for alleged sedition aimed at undermining his neo-Islamist AKP. Since coming to power in 2002, the charismatic prime minister has capped each victory over the army with electoral triumph, winning landslides in 2007 and again in June.

www.ft.com...

I would expect an order for the US to remove its key strategic military facilities from Turkey in the months ahead. Turkey wants its former empire BACK! The AKP has the foothold and popularity that they have needed. The balance in the region is certainly changing nation by nation. Israel is a sitting duck.

Did you read the article? Where you been over the last 10 years? Read a little about the AK party and their media censorship since taking power in 2001. The entire bulk of the upper military echelon has been replaced as has the entire reporting/authority structure. A new constitution is also in the works. Let's just call it Neo Islam to give it a new face on an old idea.

Couldn't access it.

Isn't it a good thing that the civilian government is getting a grip on the armed forces?

All other democracies, in theory anyway, the armed forces are subordinate to elected civilian government.

Censorship seems pretty standard in most democracies these days.

However I do not like the way that the Kurds have been treated and continue to be treated by Turkey.

What I find a little disturbing is both these countries will be getting new fighter jets from the us, Turkey and Israel both have f-35 on order.

Looks like the two countries will be hammering each other with US made arms.

Lets not Forget Turkey = Nato country, Israel is not.

Gona be interesting how that all turns out.

I read on Haaretz that the modification allows the weapons system to identify Israeli targets as "foe" rather then "friend". The chances of a military confrontation between Turkey and Israel are slim. Israel will do whats necessary to avoid an escalation that might lead to war as Israel does not want to fight against a real army. Whether it be Turkey, Iran or even Egypt for that matter. The dynamics of war have changed in the Middle East over the past ten years and without the help of the US Israel could not hope to win a war with any country with even semi sophiscated weapontry. My opinion.

What really complicates matter on the JSF F-35 program is that Turkey is involve in the manufacture of some portion of the F-35 ( IIRC the fuselage). Turkey is a member of the JSF F-35 consortium, from the beginning by paying a hefty advance payment to join. Israel was never a member of the consortium(and made no advance payment). But wants to jump in front of the line and grab the first couple of F-35s coming off the production line ahead of all the paying member of the consortium (and without paying a single dime, courtesy of U.S. taxpayers).

I think the F-35 is pretty much irrelevant since they will only be delivered in a few years to anyone. A lot of things will have happened by then, for the better or worse.

Turkey warns Israel it can send warships to the Mediterranean at moment’s notice

Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday that Turkish warships could be sent to the Eastern Mediterranean at any time and Israel could not do whatever it wants there, escalating a war of words over the 2010 killing of Turkish activists, reports Reuters.

Ties between the two regional powers have deteriorated sharply since Israeli naval commandos raided the Mavi Marmara, a Turkish ship carrying aid to the Palestinian Gaza Strip.

"Israel cannot do whatever it wants in the eastern Mediterranean. They will see what our decisions will be on this subject. Our navy attack ships can be there at any moment," Erdogan told a news conference shortly after arriving in Tunis.

Asked if Turkey was prepared to protect any future aid ships, he said: "On the point of navigation in international waters, we will ensure protection at any time of our ships, which can go to other places, not just Gaza."
