Ran across this while bored at work...

Scientists at the University of Leeds have paved the way to smaller, cheaper and lighter gadgets with the invention of a jelly lithium battery.

The flexible polymer gel batteries can be shaped and bent to fit virtually any device and can be made just nanometres thick at a rate of ten metres per minute.

This seems like a major break through on transitioning away the lithium-ion batteries that are in use today in most electronic devices. Lithium-ion batteries are potentially flammable liquids, this new battery sounds like there is no risk.

Ah, but how good is it on a crumpet?

Seriously, this development might make things like artificial muscles much more life-like.

Good show!

It definitely opens up a bunch of new possibilities if it becomes commercially viable. Think of all the improvements to medical devices and consumer electronics.

And I am sure its delicious, I bet it tastes like grape!

available at 10 to 20 percent of the regular batteries price!
