I just came across this yesterday, SuperiorEd originally had a thread titled "Agra-Bio Linguistics" which has a link to a video of a Hebrew language teacher going through parts of the Bible and taking it all back to the Hebrew. Anyone seriously studying the Bible needs to watch these 2 series of videos. It's about a 3 hour ride.

Nope.

In the endless presentations of theist efforts of becoming pseudo-rationally 'housebroken', ever seeking for a breach SOMEWHERE to 'get entrance' to the world of rational reasoning, science/logic or objective procedure, this is example number umpteenth-hundred-and-eleven.

And people working with REAL truth/reality-seeking most likely won't waste much of their time on disproving theist cottage-industry 'methodologies' but only take some cursory glances on such. Usually a few lines are enough to see it for what it is.

Your superior intellect wins out once more.

Try watching the whole series of videos.

I'm technically unable to watch videos here, and besides I'm joining the forum to have dialogues, not use it as a directory to 'experts' and similar. So I wouldn't look at them in any case.

Because I could associate to the SuperEd thread you referred to as part of OP.

But that isn't really what you did. The thread title is "Help better understanding and interpreting the bible" which shows 2 videos that might help one do such a thing.

What YOU did, was come in here, glance at the title, maybe watched a minute or two of each video, maybe not, then proceeded to go on about how theologists are trying to "trick" their way into the scene. You're here to argue for the SAKE OF ARGUING.

It's a waste of my time, your time, and anyone else who might happen upon this thread looking for *gasp* "HELP better understanding and interpreting the Bible."

What in my comment on video-looking didn't you understand? I said, I don't have the technical possibility, and that I don't want to look at videos. So I haven't looked at a second of them.

And as much as you mistrust my motives, I do with your motives. Not for a moment do I believe, that this is about 'helping' anyone. It's abour proselytizing.

I don't normally click on and read threads that I am not interested in. Generally someone coming to this thread would probably be someone looking for "Help better understanding and interpreting the Bible."

What better way to DO such a thing than to try and go back to the roots, the language that was spoken and written at the time, to better understand?

I could say that YOU are proselytizing, albiet not to change one's belief TO a religious belief, but rather FROM.

It's regretteable, that your wish for some kind of selective mechanisms on this thread doesn't function. But that how public forums are. Be grateful that you have at least one visitor.

Personally I could suggest several better ways to 'run' a religion than most of the 34.000 different christian ways of doing it. First of all I would have chosen a sane 'god' instead of a deranged one. And then this 'god' should learn to communicate better, instead of all this ineffability. I have more suggestions, if you want.

Wouldn't surprise me if you did say it. Many christians love to play mindgames with language as their tool. But you are apparantly not very familiar with my position and motives, but only guessing now.

Who said anything about "running" a religion? This is about better understanding and interpreting the Bible by getting back to the language it was written in.

Who is the one playing mindgames? You came and asserted that I was simply proselytizing. I submit that YOU are doing the same thing! How can you just come and insist that what I am doing is proselytizing, yet when I suggest the very thing of you, you say I'm playing mindgames?

Instead of adding to this gordic knot, I'll be diplomatic and suggest, that you try to tell with your own words, what the videos are about. I doubt that many will spend three hours looking at them.

The christian promotional market is overflowing, and had you wished for a serious audience of specialists with the same interests as you, you would have had better chances on a protected christian site with some kind of censorship.

But I won't be able to join again until my tomorrow.

He's talking about the Messiah, so he must be Jewish... and if He is not belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, he will NEVER understand the scripture. It does not going by interpreting but to have th Holy Spirit. You can see the Holy Spirit like a plugin. If you want to see a PDF-file in your browser, you need the plugin Adobe Reader.
If you (yourself) want to know the Bible what is in it, you need the plugin Holy Spirit, and that is only possible by the Lord Jesus Christ, to see Him as the Son of Jehova, God. And if you believe in His ressurection, than He will give you the Holy Spirit and than you understand every word of the Scripture!!

Not to be rude in any way, but he isn't Jewish. He does have Jewish background though, he definitely believes in Jesus.

So essentially this guy goes through parts of the Bible and takes the translations back to Hebrew. It doesn't really make any PROFOUND, this means something SO MUCH DIFFERENT, type things, but it puts alot of the metaphors and such into words more readily understandable. Action words, if you will, as opposed to the abstract words that English is mostly comprised of.

You mean the thread?
I agree on the comment about the Hebrew never saying anything profound.
People try to make it seem like it is but that is all in their own minds.
Hebrew is all down to earth and concrete and nothing spiritual and their focus is on acquisition of physical, material things and to them a spirit is like what we would think of as a demon or something, and never anything positive.
I did not watch the videos because the Zionist flag in it is enough to make me not want to.

Strange that you won't watch simply because of a flag. That is a special sort of close mindedness.
