Extremely poor character development, coupled with an absent director makes Contagion’s improbable storyline a must miss movie.

If you are Matt Damon fan be sure you fail to attend his meager portrayal of “Mitch Emhoff”, the father with no direction.

The dis-jointed storyline is surpassed by the improbability of the conclusion. Start to finish Contagion is a dying effort to convince the viewer that the Governments of the World know “What is best” for their subjects.

“Beth Emhoff” , Gwyneth Paltrow an adulteress, globe-trotting businesswoman/wife is patient zero. She contracts an unknown virus that originates from a bat which takes a bite from a banana, flies to a pig farm drops the half eaten banana in with the pigs, which one consumes the infected morsel, then miss piggy is sold to a Casino restaurant where the Chef rubs his hands on miss piggy’s teeth and without washing his hand goes into the Casino to shake hands with “Beth”. “Beth” then goes on a frolic through out the Casino spreading the virus to everyone she comes in contact with, but wait there’s more, on her trip back home to Minneapolis she has a 5 hour layover, so she calls up her Chicago friend with benefits for an adulteress fling before she going home to her loving husband, “Mitch”.

Contagion is on life support long before patient one is. The unrealistic depiction of the ensuing chaos that a virus that will claim the lives of almost one percent of the World’s population before the long awaited end of the movie is naive at best and pure propaganda.
But wait there’s more,

The CDC and the US Pharmacological industry to the rescue, our heroine, “Dr. Alley Hextall”, Jennifer Ehle is so consumed with compassion for her patients (the entire World’s population) that she uses herself as the guinea pig, the one and only Human vaccine trial, which is a complete success. The US Pharmacological industry lobby must have written the script for their role in this film, paid advertisement could not have done a better job in the elucidation this lobby desires.
Searching for a plausible role for the World Health Organization, Marion Cotillard as “Dr Leonora Orantes” plays the WHO epidemiologist that is dispatched to Hong Kong to discover the origin of the outbreak. What she discovers is that she is a victim as well, but not of the virus but of Helsinki syndrome, as she is kidnapped by her Chinese counterparts and held for vaccine ransom, so they can treat their hometown.

Our villain, “Allan Krumwiede” , Jude Law, is an internet blogging conspiracy theorist who’s greed directs his actions to mis-inform the public and lead them from their real savior the Government, CDC, and the World Health Organization.

What is the purpose of this non-thriller, what are we to leave the theater with ?

First and foremost bizarre virus do appear no matter how unlikely the origin, and we should never think that a virus is anything but a natural mutation. “The birds are doing that”, Laurence Fishburne’s unforgettable line.

Never, ever trust information you receive from the internet, the only source of factual information is disseminated from official Governmental sources. Jude Laws role.

The Government knows what is best for you and your corporation will be forced, for the good of all. Matt Damon’s role.

Your local market shelves will be empty, you will need to show up at the park to receive your MRE’s (unless they run out), roving armed gangs will kill your neighbors and rob your house, but fear not your electricity and water will remain on, even when no one shows up for work.

Contagion, leaves its audience sick.

One thumb down !

What does the directors' sex life have to do with the movie? Or is it some other form of abstinence? Drink? Drugs?

Rotten tomatoes have given it a great 82% rating.

Tense, tightly plotted, and bolstered by a stellar cast, Contagion is an exceptionally smart -- and scary -- disaster movie.

I agree it totally sucked. Made conspiracy theorists out to be the bad guy and made the government out to be the savior. 2 Thumbs Down!!

Thanks. You saved me a trip. But you know I am wondering about this?

The Government knows what is best for you and your corporation will be forced, for the good of all. Matt Damon’s role.

Isn't this as old as government and Hollywood? I mean James Bond is about exactly this type of ideology. I don't think they are trying to re-program anyone any more than ET was heralding in the aliens.

Is the virus in the movie airborne? That's really the only way you'd see something as a major pandemic. Either that or a coordinated terrorist attack utilizing the worlds airways to spread it. Anything else could be isolated and locked down...unless it's primary symptoms were more flu-like, causing people to ignore it (and think they had the flu or a cold) until it was too late.
