There have been a number of disasters over the past 90 years at Wrigley Field in Chicago including last year's playoffs against the Florida Marlins. But could a true disaster be in the future? It seems the aging stadium is crumbling.

"Chunks of concrete fell from the deck of the 90-year-old ballpark on at least three occasions since June, forcing officials to install protective nets and inspect the upper deck and mezzanine levels. "

Source: cbs.sportsline.com...

The park supposedly passed inspection but if you have to put up nets to catch falling concreate I would not feel safe about being under that upper deck or even worst being on the upper deck. Is a collapse of the upper deck possible?

This quote from the story is a bit alarming...

"Kaderbek ordered the new inspections after a Los Angeles Times reporter, citing sources within the Cubs organization, told him that repair work at Wrigley had been shoddy. The reporter and the Tribune Co., which owns the newspaper as well as the Cubs, withdrew the remarks, saying their information was incorrect. "

It is either bad work or its not. It is kind of hard to get this informaiton mixed up.

Indy,

This is all about Mayor Daley and the Tribune Company....

The Tribune is hard on Daley (for a variety of things), and so daley makes life hard for anything owned by the Tribune (the Chicago Cubs).

There's more to the story but that's the gist of it.
