Shockingly, his math isn't nonsense at all. The Vietnam War was America's most disgracefull war (not including the murder of hundreds of thousands of Japanese civillians during WW2). I feel deeply for the soldiers who participated in, or witnessed, the attrocities. It is a shamefull day when we do such a thing to our soldiers. I feel proud that some came back and learned a lesson from that horrible time, namely John Kerry. I hope the lessons he learned there will guide his presidency, and America.

Bull-

Kerry owes me no appology. He stated his position and his politics.

THIS is what America really is- not some whine-#$$ stuff about Kerry dating Jane Fonda or testifying before congress.

Both of those are his right also- as an American!

Bod Dole needs to look in the mirror-

Used insider influence to get his wife a cushy job THEN berated women!

"My wife won't be in charge of health care reform" making it clear that Libby Dole has no place in a Bob Dole administration. However, Bob Dole would like the voters to forget that Libby Dole held a cabinet position as Secretary of Transportation in the Reagan whitehouse and is now the head of the Red Cross.

Eight years ago, during Bob Dole's last bid for the White House, Bob Dole's campaign was rocked by money-laundering allegations strikingly similar to those raised today.

Term Limits - Bob Dole wanted a term limits bill that excluded everyone who was already in Congress

Health care- Bob Dole held up the Kassenbaum Kennedy bill for months, A very popular bill allowing people to take their health care insurance with them when they change jobs.
When the bill came up for a vote, Bob Dole attached an amendment to it for medical savings accounts that would have poisoned the legislation. Nancy Kassenbaum, the other Republican senator from Kansas opposed it and with a group of Republican defectors, managed to strip off Bob Dole's amendment. The legislation then came up for a vote and passed unaminously.

His own party tried to dump him- "Increasingly there are people talking about, 'How can we convince Bob Dole to withdraw?'," said the Cambridge-educated Ms Huffington, a close associate of House Speaker Newt Gingrich and a leading figure in Washington Republican circles.

His own words-
Tell them Anything: "Telling people what you think they want to hear just to win their votes is a very old idea."

This is common to virtually every legislation ever enacted. It's called a Grandfather clause.

If you had any idea of what you were talking about you could not make such statements. Kerry is a communist who supported the enemy after he served his tour. I too feel for the soldiers who participated in atrocities, but their numbers are very low, negligible actually. The Vietnam war was one of America's finest hours. It helped to nail shut the coffin on the global expansion of communism. If you want to expand your little pea brain, read this., the book, I mean.

You feel proud that Kerry supported the enemy during a time of war because you are an enemy of freedom. Kerry's a liar; you're a liar. There has been no darker day in history than the day you were born.

You don't care what Kerry Stands for, you mean if he raises your taxes to pay illeagle aliens welfare money, you are fine with this. If Kerry gives the UN control over the US military you don't care? If Kerry desides that we should pay vietnam for all the "war crimes" and gives half your salary for it, you okay with this? you are either not being honest or one of the dumbest people in America. Will you vote or Osama because he's not Bush?

You talk of an imaginary situation in which Kerry would give welfare money to illegal aliens, while in reality Bush wants to give illegal aliens amnesty. The UN couldn't control any countries military, much less the US's military - Kerry couldn't do that even if he desired to do so. Matter of fact, without congressional approval all the 'issues' you brought up are impossible. Considering that congress would never agree on any of the hypothetical 'issues' you brought up, I hardly see how they are valid, in fact I see them as moot. Jabbas statement at the bare minimum shows his absolute distaste with the Dubya administration. I'm sure he cares about Kerry's political positions, but above all else he would prefer a jar of mayonnaise (not the gross low-calorie lite kind, Bush is at least better than that) to the bumbling buffoon which is George W. Bush.

I think personally it is time we move on from the Vietnam war. My father was a Marine in Vietnam and served two tours of duty in combat (he voluteered too). When I asked him about all the "attrocities" we have heard about lately he said that he would not talk about it but that he would vote for Kerry as he is an "honest man". He feels Kerry did more than most to help get him home. Oh and when I pushed he said that things happened that many men today still try to live with, he has heard nothing untrue yet. And this is from the most honorable man I have ever known, served another 25 years in the military after Vietnam.

35 years ago has nothing to do with today. We need to move on and Kerry did what he did so everyone should get over it.

I find your comments interesting, obviously from a jar head on the ground. The United States Government itself didn't want to win the war, the war was used to generate profit for the large defense contractors in this country and losing a few lives mean't nothing to them or our government for that matter and that's why the american people were sick and tired of the war. Now my grandfather Holloway, who was the supreme allied commander in Europe at the time said we could have won that war in one week if congress and the president would have let us fight, but they didn't want to fight, they wanted to test their new weapons and make their big business contributors happy. Now that's what he said and his 4 stars would probably mean he knew.

Yeah, that's a BRILLIANT assertion. I mean why bother even trying to understand whether or not Kerry is good for America? I mean, who really cares whether or not Kerry will protect the homeland and take a strong stance against terrorists and their supporters? Who gives a hoot if he raises taxes to pay for socialist systems that breed dependence on the government? And who really gives a darn if he crushes the economy and drives businesses out of America with his shallow policies? I mean, after all, at least he's not George W. Bush. Cuz all that really matters is that Bush is out of office right? Even if Hitler or Ghengis Khan replaces him, at least Bush is out of office. Now THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is the epitome of logic and rationale.

Extremely nice response GradyPhilpott -- ok, not really. It's ok to hide from the truth as long as you can live with it. Seeing as your posting to a site whose motto is Deny Ignorance, I would suggest that you start doing it. You are the one who thinks that choosing to dissent is the same as treason. Those who run from the truth and decide to cover up their guilty conscious by continuing to hide from what is obvious will never better themselves as human beings.

I see you didn't read the link I provided, not that I thought you actually would. But you didn't address the fact that Americans raped thousands of Southern Vietnamese -- that's okay to you I guess, as long as no Northern Vietnamese were raped then all is well eh? You are a sick individual sir, but I will at least try to show you some simple math that would seem to show that a Northern Vietnamese citizen was raped by an American.

There were approximately 2 million+ total Americans who went to Vietnam. Out of those, roughly 1.6 million actually experienced combat.

So now we have 1,600,000 total Americans in Vietnam. Given that many incursions occurred in Northern Vietnam (see Secret Army, Secret War: Washington's Tragic Spy Operation in North Vietnam by Sedgwick Tourison) one must assume that at least half a percent of the total American forces were involved or went into N.V. If this is the case, about 8,000 total Americans ventured to and from N.V. Using the same statistics that occurred in Southern Vietnam (since a true statistic here can't be found, I'll use merely half a percent again to be nice) one can see that at least 40 of those 8,000 total Americans that ventured to and from N.V. committed at least one heinous act on a N.V. citizen. More then likely, at least one of those 40 did at least one rape. Using more realistic statistics, (I would say that about 20% of Americans participated in heinous atrocities in S.V., but since those who went to N.V. were probably more controlled, I'll say 10% in N.V.) I would say more on the lines of 120 heinous crimes occurred.

As you can see, using just simple math, the chances that a Northern Vietnamese woman was raped by an American appears to be valid.

Also, George Bush was AWOL

Final Wave-

Your entire argument is speculation.

For one, you speculate the numbers of rapes by American troops with this statement "since a true statistic here can't be found, I'll use merely half a percent again to be nice". Pure speculation.

Second, your link to awolbush.com is also speculation. No one know Bush's military record, no one.

Come on Wave, you seem smarter then the examples you provided.

Kerry went to war and i am greatful for that but when he came home he made the American people hate the American troops. And now he wants to pass him off as a decorated war hero. I thought he was ashamed of what happened in Vietnam, so why is he so proud now? It doesn't take rocket-science to figure out something is not right.

Out of Wave and Graddy i have to believe Graddy, he was there, he has seen it FIRST hand, not second hand through his father. Not that i don't respect your father Wave but first hand is always better than listening to a story. Just my opinion.

You are right, we should of sent hundreds of thousands of American troops into the island of Japan so that they could die. Good thing you don't run the US military. It is a shame the we ha to use the A-Bomb but it was the best thing for America at the time. If we would have landed on Japan, a lot of people on these boards would not be here, their dad would be dead.

No, Kerry turned the American people against the troops, not the government. He made the American people spit on and call the American troops coming home baby killers. And now he wants to use his war time in his campagn for President.

So, by your logic, its ok to murder innocent people as long as it benefits you? Hitler was ok to exterminate million of Jews because they were occupying his land. We would be justified in nuking the Middle East because there might be some terrorists there. I would be justified in running around killing all my neighbors because one of them might try to kill me one day. That sir... is insane!

I think it's funny how you people are distorting American history. Now everyone's blamming John Kerry for the anti-war protests. Millions of Americans protested the unjust war in Vietnam. Millions of "common-sense" Americans saw the attrocites, the murder of innocent people, as wrong. John Kerry did not make the people spit on the troops. He didn't turn the people against the troops. If a Nazi questioned the tortue of the Jews, and was now wanting to be the leader of Germany, would you call him evil because he opposed Hitler? The Vietnam war was a disgrace on America, and now people like you are making it out to be our most "heroic" war. How sad.

I love this type of revisonist history. The civilian casulties were a result of how nations waged war. While not acceptable now, city busting was a tactic them. All sides participated in it. Just ask the residents of London. However, to be ashamed of the Vets that faught in WWII and Vietnam is typical of the mentality that had our vets booed on thier return home. If anything you should be ashamed at how people with your outlook treated the vets on thier return home from Vietnam

Here are the criteria for the Purple Heart. I don't know anything about this particular story, but if that grenade was thrown at the enemy, regardless of any other factors, the Purple Heart was properly awarded. Bob Dole was so severely wounded that he did not need a Purple Heart to come home and there was no three wounds and you're out rule in WWII.
