You are your own best guru. Be mindful of your thoughts, emotions, words, and actions. Be consciously aware of the world within you and the world around you. Observe as many moments in the 'now' as you can; always mindful of 'now,' with no judgement, past, or future... only 'now.' The truth will reveal itself to you. May Peace be with you.

"Trends"? WTF???

Look, humanity on the whole is a lost flock. If you are following "trends', you are only moving with the lost flock. Good luck with that.

My input: the greatest guru I have found thus far is myself. I have a forum of intelligent folks that I may bounce things off of. I post it on my blog. I think, deeply. Very deeply. For hours a day. It is how I meditate. One realization at a time, apply reason and logic to place it in context with everything else you have realized.

And believe nothing.

ETA: to clarify, there is no guru that will teach you anything. To truly KNOW something, you must realize it yourself. Meditate on it, and learn it from all angles. Don't just be aware of something, but truly understand it. The only way to do this is personal insight. Otherwise you are just taking someone else's word for it, and memorizing their facts.

We are our own teacher but Eckhart Tolle has been a dear inspiration for me. He has the ability to show us how to totally accept and live in The Now. His book The Power of Now helped me greatly understand the changes I feel within.

Also Be Here Be Now by Ram Dass has taught me much about the meaning of life, again how to accept The Now and not try to enter the past or the future.

Cherish the Now it is all we have!

You could call them teachers of a kind but they teach in a way that involves the teaching by the true Self. They do not cause any attachment to them as individuals, that way you remain your own teacher.
