Section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act, 50 U.S.C. 1622(d), provides for the automatic termination of a national emergency unless, prior to the anniversary date of its declaration, the President publishes in the Federal Register and transmits to the Congress a notice stating that the emergency is to continue in effect beyond the anniversary date. Consistent with this provision, I have sent to the Federal Register the enclosed notice, stating that the emergency declared with respect to the terrorist attacks on the United States of September 11, 2

At least two constitutional rights are subject to revocation during a state of emergency:

■The right of habeas corpus, under Article 1, Section 9;
■The right to a grand jury for members of the National Guard when in actual service, under Fifth Amendment.

The United States has been in a state of national emergency continuously since September 14, 2001, when the Bush administration invoked it premised on the September 11 attacks. In September 2010, President Barack Obama informed Congress that the State of National Emergency in effect since September 14, 2001, will be extended another year. The National Emergencies Act grants various powers to the president during times of emergency, and was intended to prevent a president from declaring a state of emergency of indefinite duration.

It means, despite never charging Bin Laden, yet murdering him anyway, or proving any connection to any terrorists, or any terrorists ever taking credit for the acts on 9/11/01. Here we are 10 years later, with no follow-up attacks, and no clear picture of what happened in the first place, and we are renewing the threats, and fears, and bowing to a government that no longer respects the Constitution, or our fundamental rights. We are on our 3rd rendition of the so-called Patriot Act, and we still have Gitmo, and we still have indefinite detainments without rights, and we still have domestic spying, and sealed warrants, and para-military raids, despite no proof whatsoever of any threat to the nation.

It mean, your government is asking you politiely to bend over until the next anniversary date, and if you won't do it voluntarily, they have the authority under a state of declared emergency to bend you over themselves.

The credible non-specific threat was the given fact that they intended to continue this oppressive migration towards the federal government as ruler of the people instead of servant.

Pretty threatening, I do agree.

Obama also extended for one year the national emergency declared in 2001, three days after hijacked passenger planes slammed into New York's World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon outside Washington.

"Because the terrorist threat continues, the national emergency declared on September 14, 2001, and the powers and authorities adopted to deal with that emergency must continue in effect beyond September 14, 2011," the White House statement said.
