Hey Tool...

The FEMA funding is still authorized. The federal Government is doing it's part. There is no denial of assistance as the OP states. That is my point and it still stands as being accurate.

Uh no... We pay federal Taxes too brother. We want what is due.

UH, every other "socialist" service and "handout" is provided from our taxes that we all pay, right?? So why does Texas consider all other instances to be a waste, yet their issues are always an EXCEPTION?? Sounds like crybaby hypocrites to me.

So that Texas can be forced to 'practice what they preach', the government should reply to them saying that they are broke and adding to the deficit is BAD!! Just like those conservative extremists down there parrot on-and-on-and-on-and-on about constantly.

This would add to the deficit to which they fought TOOTH-AND-NAIL to stop. So WHY should the government spend tax money on Texas as opposed to the other 'socialist' spending that the tax payers contribute to??

Once again, Texas=HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!!!!!

Come now. Do Texans pay taxes to the Federal Government or not?

They would probably have more money to deal with things like this if they seceded.

Short and sweet: We ALL pay taxes. BOTH Texans and non-Texans. We ALL as a nation pay taxes so that in times of need, the country can have assistance. The point here that I am trying to make, is that Texas and the idiot hard-core conservative klan calls this 'socialism' and 'handouts' yet they are the FIRST and the LOUDEST to cry for these so-called 'socialist' services, and government 'handouts' so WHY should Texas of all taxpayers GET ANYTHING??? That makes them HYPOCRITES at best, right?? YES!!!

This 'socialist handout' will add to the deficit Texas, so WHY ARE YOU EVEN ASKING for this 'socialist handout' in the first place??????????

They are a JOKE.

You seem to have all the answers my friend, too bad they are the wrong ones. Firstly, the funds for disaster relief come from supplemental appropriations and do not officially impact the budget deficit. Secondly, the politicians in this state do not speak for all Texans, at least we don't all support Rick Perry. If you think for one second that the majority of the population here in Texas wishes to secede from the Union, you are sadly mistaken; but i've already established that you are mistaken, if not sad as well.

While it's true that there was a resolution passed by the Texas House on Feb. 17th 2009 that many felt was a call for seccession, the fact is that it wasn't. Of course if you only get your information from the bobble heads on the boob tube, then I can see where you would be inclined to believe such tripe. That resolution merely declared that Texas, as a State would only be subjected to Federal power specifically granted by the US Constitution.

[edit] House Concurrent Resolution 50On February 17, 2009, House Concurrent Resolution 50 was introduced and on May 30, 2009 the resolution passed in the House with amendments.
The resolution reads in part:

RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas hereby claim sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That this serve as notice and demand to the federal government, as our agent, to cease and desist, effective immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That all compulsory federal legislation that directs states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties or sanctions or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding be prohibited or repealed.

Absolutely nowhere in that document does it declare that Texas would seccede from the Union. If only the rest of the States had the balls to stand up to the Federal Government in such a manner.

Of course, none of these words will change your narrow minded point of view and your utter lack of compassion for those who've been displaced and had their lives destroyed by this disaster.

Yes we pay Federal income taxes. Who fights fires in Texas, mostly VFDs. VFD's are trained as much as most paid firefighters. The Forest Service does contribute to VFDs, but a large portions are locally raised money. We are fighting fire in Colorado County with out FEMA being in the way. We are trained in chemical plant fires, air crash sites, house fires, grass fires, and large forest fires... Just like the forest cancelling a contract with Aero Union. They would supply tankers to the Texas fire, but also California fires... Last time I checked California was aa Blue State.

making it a political issue won't help anything

This type of government assistance that Texas is crying for is the SAME assistance that their elected officials ridicule day in and day out calling it 'socialism' and government 'handout'.

It makes them EXTREME hypocrites to have the nerve to even ask for such 'socialist' assistance and government 'handouts' when they are CONSTANTLY screaming about it being BAD and that it must stop IMMEDIATELY without care or compassion whatsoever... EXCEPT... of course, when its THEM who needs this 'socialist' assistance and government 'handout'... What a JOKE!!!!!!!!

Facts are facts, no trolling here. If anyone is 'trolling' here, its those idiot conservative-extremists down in Texas...

i agree with you completely. let's take your point a little farther. the whole tea party thing about public or social programs are bad. usually they say that if you can not afford it, too bad! remember, not long ago a man's house was allowed to burn down while the fire department stood and watched because they were ordered too? the man forgot to pay the $50.00 fee. this is the logical extension of their ideas. hopefully, this might make them rethink some of their ideas. maybe texas should have raised revenue by slightly raising the taxes on the wealthier residents of their state. then, maybe, they would have not been in this situation. sorry, you just can't cut your way out of deficits.

i am glad that the federal government is helping out. because we may disagree does not mean we have to treat others horribly.

But only the President can declare it as a "Disaster Area," thus triggering Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance. So really, it's up to Obama.

Do you think that the loss of life and property is a joke?

Do you not realize that every conservative politician in the country basically says the same things? That's just politics man. We're talking about reality here, not posturing politicians. Poeple are suffering and you're calling them idiots.

BTW - How's your blood pressure?

I am certainly in no way "blinded by leftist ideals" as I hate extreme leftists, equally as much as I despise extreme-rights ideals.

I am 100% for Texans (and others in a similar situation) to get any needed assistance from the federal government when they are in need for it.

What I am aggravated about here, is that the idiot hard-core extremist conservative elected officials in the state of Texas NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER SHUT UP about government spending, adding to the debt, 'socialism' this, 'socialism that, and 'handouts' this, 'handouts that...

I wish for the folks down there to get all the assistance needed, but its past due for those idiot officials in Texas to SHUT UP with the 'socialism' and 'handout' and 'debt ceiling' RANTING when they ALWAYS cry for this EXACT 'socialism' assistance, government 'handouts' and 'raising the debt ceiling' stuff when THEY WANT IT!!

TEXAS OFFICIALS: EITHER SHUT UP ABOUT 'SOCIALISM' AND ' GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS', or DONT CRY FOR FEDERAL SOCIALIST HANDOUTS.

Otherwise that makes you EXTREME HYPOCRITES at best!!!
