We all know about the issues of Facebook. Whether they concern privacy, free speech, or anything mirroring the constitution. Now I am discovering that they are deleting status updates.

I had recently attempted to post footage of a riot that was breaking out in the united states. Not only did Facebook block it, but it was down from YouTube within the hour.

Are we so reliant on technology that we have to put up with this? I mean, do censorship and fascism really summarize our future?

Just quit Facebook honestly it was the best thing I ever did.

Remember there was life before Facebook.

I've been out for 3 months. No regrets.

Yeah I know, I deactivated my facebook about 3 months ago for a variety of reasons, especially about others being nosy and such. The situation you posted also happened to my friend as well, and he felt that it was some CIA involved stuff that deleted his comments and such. In addition, I feel that facebook has caused so much drama especially with relationships, but that's my point of view lol

You already know man, I've been away for like 4 months, and its a pain in the ass, especially that I'm in medical school when I should be studying I'd spend like 3-4 hours on that crap and it will just ruin everything. Its also the worst for relationships.

Your correct. FB is absolute hell on relationships. Things are way too open. Just waiting for jealousy to rear its ugly head in.

Yessir. Plus people didn't take too kindly to open debates lol.

Lots of ex gf's used to message me on there too. Too much trouble.

How do you fare without it though? I don't know why I ever made an account in the first place.

It's because people flock like sheep to the "coolest" hang outs and no one really cares when they censor things the "crazy people" are talking about.

What ever happened to freedom of speech?

I use facebook on occasion for my nuke groups.
Not to many problems.
And ,yes they do tend to censor, but the alternative is twitter.
I have noticed that during many disasters and uprisings, there are alot of people using it and uploading links.
Another thing, you can hide posts and unfriend people, and set up your privacy settings .

I know! I posted a link to whatistheplan, for a friend of mine.

I looked a minute later, and it was gone.
I tried again, and it immediately was deleted.
Then I said, 'fb is deleting my post.'
Tried it again, and it is working.

Very disconcerting.

Facebook doesn't make it easy to quit though...deletion is pretty complicated and takes two weeks to complete...deactivation is easy though.

I personally just use FB as a "phonebook".
