Products like this are the only "beneficial" items to come of new technology, and the beneficial aspect is questionable, as it is just another way to keep people trapped in their own little worlds, unaware of the world around them. Rarely does newly developed technology actually help people on a large scale, unless of course there is profit in it.

Isn't it sickening that in our culture we cannot wait to buy the next big, new thing, on the cutting-edge of technology, while there are people all over the world who are lacking basic human necessities, such as food and water? We get upset when our broadband internet slows down, or our cell signals drop, but we forget that we aren't starving on dying of thirst.

Sorry, I know this isn't what your thread is about, but that's what I was thinking. And despite what I said, this device does look extremely cool. Does anyone know when it will become available, or is this something in development?

This could be a game changer for education. Imagine kids learning mathematics by viewing three dimensional letters and symbols. They would be learning via a totally different system than we did. Or, medical school students exploring/cutting three dimensional bodies. The potential is staggering. Of course, the gamers will love it too.

I see a massive thrust from the Porn industry in this direction. With humongous twin impacts in immersion and realism I only hope it comes to fruition and leaves everyone satisfied.

I wonder if there will a increase of epilictic seizures using these? Especially with the gamers.

Even though I think they're cool, and would probably buy one if affordable, we have to look into the possible side effects.

But I think I'm healthy, my doctors tells me that anyways.
So, yep, I'll get one when they market them.

I wonder what social media will become when they can start beaming internet into these things.

This is only a half-step away from the world created in "surrogates" with Bruce Willis.

I'd say I want two, but one is enough for anyone...just like the ever-lasting gobstopper...thanks for posting!

How is this not damaging to the eyes? I have eye problems sitting a couple feet away from the current LCD monitors - the heat and brightness. Having something so close to the eyes seems like its destined for eye strain/cancer research.

The link doesn't work any more. It says that the user on Youtube has removed said video! What was it, some sort of Holodeck, like on Star Trek TNG?

Dang, that video was cool, I'll see if I can't find something similar to it. Thing was awesome. I can only find the gaming system that's in the theater, I think it was a home system though, or proto. It might be 5D or 4D.

Weird, I guess the video is not allowed to be played in Canada! Too bad, I really want to see this thing! Please find me a copy that I might be able to see if possible, or what this thing is called, and I can try to find a copy for myself!

Since some of us can't watch this video, do you mind describing what was going on in the video? Can you tell us what this device is called so I can look up a video that I can see of it?
