A Magellan Strategies poll indicates voters could be on the brink of delivering a real shocker to New York City’s Democratic establishment by electing Republican Bob Turner over Democrat David Weprin to succeed firebrand Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner.

Magellan surveyed 2,055 voters in the 9th Congressional District. Turner led Weprin 44.6 percent to 40.4 percent. The poll’s margin of error is 2.6 percent.

The New York Post reported Thursday that Democrats are hoping a massive last-minute ad blitz can avert a political debacle in Tuesday’s special election to replace Weiner.

“The idea that this race is so close is a humiliation for the Democratic Party,” a New York Democrat complained to the newspaper.

Republican Bob Turner is now leading Democrat David Weprin in the New York 9th Congressional District for the special election on September 13. This District has given this nation many prominent Democrats such as Anthony Weiner, Charles Schumer, and Geraldine Ferraro. Not to mention the District voted 67% for Al Gore in the 2000 Presidential Election but just 55% for Barack Obama in 2008. His approval rating in the District is at a mere 36% with 52% disapproving of his job as President. One more thing to note about this District is that it last elected a Republican as its Representative in 1920 during the enormous victory of President Warren Harding who led his Democratic opponent by 26% and in 1922 the Republican lost, never to have the District vote in a Republican again…

… until 2011?

they have nobody to blame than themselves for allowing idiots to join and run under their party's banner.

the people who voted for weiner feel like idiots for being duped by a guy who should be working and working hard for their interests instead of f-ing around on twitter.

personally i wouldn't vote for anybody who even visits a twitter page let alone who actually has a twitter account.

there are people who take politics seriously because it is a serious matter.
