Ancient Burial May Reveal Home of Biblical Figure

An ancient burial box recovered from antiquities looters three years ago contains a mysterious inscription that could reveal the home of the family of the figure Caiaphas, who is infamous for his involvement in the biblical story of the crucifixion of Jesus.

The burial box, also called an ossuary, was discovered in 1990, but the inscription was just recently verified as legitimate (and not the result of forgers trying to increase an artifact's value) by Yuval Goren of Tel Aviv University and Boaz Zissu of Bar Ilan University. The box is made of limestone, is covered in decorative rosettes and has an inscription.

In the Bible story of Jesus' crucifixion, a Jewish high priest named Caiaphas is said to have organized the plot to kill Jesus.

What is special about the inscription on this ossuary is that the deceased is named within the context of three generations; the inscription also includes a potential residence. The full inscription reads:

"Miriam daughter of Yeshua son of Caiaphus, priest of Maaziah from Beth Imri."

The Maaziah refers to a clan that was one of 24 orders of high priests during the second temple period, Goren said. While there are some records of the Caiaphus family in Talmudic sources (the central texts of Judaism) that detail their lives after they spread into the Galilee in A.D. 70, the reference to Beit Imri gives new insight into the family's location prior to their migration.

These ossuaries are traditionally buried in the ground and contain previously buried skeletal remains. Because they spend thousands of years in the ground, the researchers said they develop a distinct coating of microbes, algae and lichen, which can't be replicated by forgers.

"Beyond any reasonable doubt, the inscription is authentic," study researcher Goren said in a statement.
The researchers aren't able to trace where the ossuary was discovered, since it had made the rounds in the illegal antiquities trade, but they believe it came from a burial site in the Valley of Elah, southwest of Jerusalem, the legendary location of the battle between David and Goliath. Beit Imri was probably located on the slopes of Mount Hebron, they said.

Found a little more on Wikipedia Caiaphas

Miriam ossuary In June 2011, archaeologists from Bar-Ilan and Tell Aviv Universities announced the recovery of a stolen ossuary, plundered from a tomb in the Valley of Elah. The Israel Antiquities Authority declared it authentic, and expressed regret that it couldn't be studied in situ.[5] It is inscribed with the text: "Miriam, daughter of Yeshua, son of Caiaphas, Priest of Ma’aziah from Beth ‘Imri". Based on it, Caiaphas can be assigned to the priestly course of Ma’aziah, instituted by king David

This is pretty interesting stuff looks like Jesus was a real person,

Political implications Caiaphas was the son-in-law of Annas by marriage to his daughter and ruled longer than any high priest in New Testament times.[8] For Jewish leaders of the time, there were serious concerns about Roman rule and an insurgent Zealot movement in Beit Shammai to eject the Romans from Israel. The Romans would not perform execution over violations of Jewish law, and therefore the charge of blasphemy would not have mattered to Pilate. Caiaphas' legal position, therefore, was to establish that Jesus was guilty not only of blasphemy, but also of proclaiming himself the messiah, which was understood as the return of the Davidic king. This would have been an act of sedition and prompted Roman execution.

So this proves that Yeshua (Jesus) was the son of the Rabbi that created the bible to deceive and control people.
The Rabbi used his sons name to create the fabled messiah, which as enlightened people nowadays can clearly understand the reasons for.

Good research finally it becomes clear that every story in the bible is just an old tale collected to control a large part of the masses.

Very cool find!
I am impressed everytime someone uncovers the past from that area.
I'm sure much has been lost from looters, over the years.
But even with new findings like this, there's still much to discover.

Although, as always, even with proof of the lives of the people involved...
Some posters will still deny the existance, claiming it's all make-believe.

Even if there's solid, substantial proof staring them in the eyes.

Good find.

Yeshua or Jesus was a very common name back then.

But I agree with your statement we just have to dig a little deeper, in more than one sense

It's funny how people say they want scientific proof, but when it is provided, they still try to scoff. Sad, because eternal life is at stake, but one can't help but think such a lame attempt is just a tad funny.

So what you are basically saying is that (ref. en.wikipedia.org...)
Because we have evidence that Michael Jordan exists we can assume that talking rabbits are real and have eternal lives ?

Wow that's so neat how you can apply your science to almost every thing and come to the truth.

The oldest deception know to man is to take truth at its reflecting point and twist it in reverse. People do this naturally by making a choice to side with darkness or light. Aleister Crowley did this by restating the golden rule. He said, "Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law." He twisted this verse:

Matthew 7:12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

You may not realize what you are doing or you may indeed realize. I merely point out the fact that it is so. Evidence for the existence of Jesus as God is undeniable. Looking at the image of truth always produces a paradox to our investigation of it. For every truth, there is an equal and opposite untruth which looks just as inviting. It is our job in life to rightly divide the light from the darkness. Clearly, darkness is on the side of unbelief in God. This is our best evidence of all that light reflects best on the side of faith in God. When we look into the mirror of truth, we can only see our own reflection as it compares to truth.

How does any of this mean that Jesus was a real person? Even if that Ossuary (and there are a few others with the claim to this throne) is a genuine artefact all it means is that there was a priest (actually there was probably quite a few) called Caiaphas or Caiaphus that lived ABOUT 2000yrs ago in the general area. .....

The Caiaphas ossuary is one of twelve ossuaries or bone boxes, discovered in a burial cave in south Jerusalem in November 1990, two of which featured the name "Caiaphas".[1] The especially beautiful ossuary is twice inscribed "Joseph, son of Caiaphas" and held the bones of a 60-year-old male. The limestone ossuary measures c. 37 cm high by 75 cm long and is housed in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem.[2] It is suspected to have belonged to Joseph, a son of Caiaphas, known as the High Priest Caiaphas in the New Testament. According to the Canonical gospels, Caiaphas was the major antagonist of Jesus. Biblical scholars formerly argued against the historicity of such a person.

and this I think is the one this thread relates to...

Miriam ossuary, which came to light in June 2011. The latter is a looted, though authenticated artifact from the Valley of Elah, bearing the inscription: "Miriam daughter of Yeshua son of Caiapha, priest of Ma’azya from Beit Imri".

Pontius Pilate was real.... Doesn't mean Jesus was.

I could make up a person right now and write a story about him having lived in Cornwall 30yrs ago, I could name the prime minister of the UK and the president of the US plus pop in a few local characters that were real. I could give a few of my friends a basic outline and get them to write stories about the person.... the stories could contain some fantasy but must contain some real references to time and place....

Now that doesn't make the person I made up real now does it?

It doesn't *prove* anything really, other than that Caiaphais actually existed. But then there was never any real doubt that he existed, as did Pilate exist. There is already historical records that substantiate that. But there is still no psychical or textual evidence for an historical Jesus - no matter how desperately some may wish it so.

Clearly to whom? And why? Based on what evidence? Truly, this is as bad a case of reverse logic and wishful thinking as anything written by the person you responded to.

There are loads of evidence. Here are links to the most important ideas that are clearly understood.

Agra Bio Linguistics - Ancient Hebrew Apef-Bet

The Name of God YHWH

The Physics of God from Science

The Mathematics of Forgiveness

Seeking the Supreme Good of God

These can get you pointed in the correct direction. If you look at the other side of the mirror, you get this:

The Book of the Law - Crowley

Simply compare God's law of loving others as yourself to the law of Crowley: Do what thou wilt is the whole of the law. Know them by their fruit and you see the truth. The truth sets you free. But first, you must release your pride to God and allow Him to cut it away with His consuming fire. This is the flaming sword that protects the tree of life. See my signature. This flaming sword is mentioned in Genesis 3. When Abram became Abraham, God added the letter 'Hey' to his name. This is the pictograph of a man with his arms out to God in humility. God sees us the same way. Love demands this level of equality. Pride demands that one is higher than the other. Again, we see the reflecting point of truth, as in a mirror.
