it can't be backed up with data either way! We just havent had this kind of television programming long enough to be able to show what will become of those girls.
Even if they dont end up raped or murdered like the ramsay girl, one has to admit that the more comfortable society is with pushing the limits on sexuality - for any age - the worse society has become. Things werent like this back in the days when kids were kids and adults were adults. Little girls dressing like this would have sent the whole world into an uproar. I dont think we have gained anything as a society to say that the freedoms and innocence we have lost has been worth it.
The girls gain nothing of value - just that the outside is more important than the inside. The people watching it gain even less. Mindless twisted entertainment. Who wins here? no one.
The little girls are not "losing their innocence" yet. They dont see the wrong in the way they are being used. but many of them will grow up to see it. We have lost our innocence as a society too, from the way the world is. and because of this we no longer have the luxury of watching little girls "play dress up" any more than a boy who saw boobs at two years ol and thought "lunch" now at thirteen sees boobs and thinks "oh yeah". We see what we see because of our collective loss of innocence. It is sad really but there it is.

stupidest thing to say ever ^^^^^^^^^
half of raising our own kids IS by payign attention to what is out there in the world and raising protests when we feel it has gone too far.
Many of our kids will go to school with these pageant kids. Many will see them on tv and demand to know why we wont let them look that way, since the show makes it so obvious that that is the way they should look. And since society adn its norms are in a great way defined by what we watch, it behooves any moral parent to raise a fuss over shows that sexualize underage girls.
If you dont see a problem with it fine. You sound like you dont have children anyway so why are you even bothering with this thread? Or did you just come here hoping to see some posted pics of these trampy tots?

This thread does bother me because people like you should mind your own business and let other parents control their kids, do you know anything about the family in this thread?

I bet you'd call that girl a trampy tot to her face as well, wouldn't you? The problem isn't her or her family, it's you mate.

sorry - i should have said "trampy-looking tot". and no sense getting huffy about it, that is exactly how she looks - and many of the others on that show. And not just the way they look - its the way they act too. the parents and many of the kids too.
And I do not need to know the parents. KNOWING them wouldnt make their decision to dress their daughter up as a prostitute on national television any more tolerable to me.In fact I can say in all honesty that I wouldnt get to know them even if they knocked on my door holding a Bible. I do not need people like that, or people that would objectify an innocent little girl like that, anywhere in my life. They may have great qualities as people, just saying their parenting choices and priorities are gross to me. You may not agree, but again if you dont have young daughters that you would step in front of a bullet for, then you prob wouldnt understand how i would be willing to speak up for marality and children's rigths at the risk of an attack from an abrasive individual as yoruself.
Do you know me personallly? Do you know my children? Then who aer you to say I have no business contributing to this thread?
My duaghters are tots, they are amazingly beautiful, and amazingly vulnerable. I am vry thankful to live in a part of the world where they are still relatively safe, but i still worry that shows like this are shaping our future to be worse than our present.
I remember when ramsey was raped and murdered. The going story as I have heard rumored was that her parents allowed her to be "used", and that it went to far and they tried to hide it by saying she was taken from her room. I was very young when the ramsey story was in the news, and i cannot see these shows without seeing her face - red lipstick, heavy makeup, hair for miles. It effected me deeply.

I think people should calm down. We all have a right to state our opinions. I know I for one have no intention of going and taking any children away from their obviously loving parents, however I don't see a problem in people having an opinion either way. That's what ATS is for is it not? Discussing things?

Now if there are people on this thread who have an intention of going and trying to forcibly take a child away from their parents then we have a problem. I do think if you have extremism on either side of the spectrum there will be problems.

So, everybody just relax, take a deep breath, remember that while many parents do make questionable decisions (myself included) for the most part we all love our children dearly and want what is best for them. Is this not the most important thing?

For crying out loud, you just jumped the grand canyon
This child hasn't been raped or murdered and probably never will be and back to the point, it's none of your business how this child is dressed, she isnt your child. You send your kids to school wrapped in cotton wool like the michelin man is just fine but let other parents send their kids to school in their own way.

Your children, not other peoples.

I HOPE she was making a point about these child beauty pageants that is really what I see on these things anyway. It should be showing off the kids innocence and cuteness.....not the screwed up nightmare it has become. Again, hope she was showing how F'd up it all is!

Yeah. What he said. Every family should be training at least one girl in the family to be a whore for someone's entertainment. Particularly early, before their bodies are distorted by puberty. It the proper training for girls, and its just a cultural belief that stops you from realising it.

Child exploitation. The mother needs to be whipped because that is beyond any normal rationale. This is ridiculous and I really would love to see these pageants shut down because they are not respectable anyway. To dress a 3 year-old as a prostitute is simple exploitation.

For anyone who thinks this a new kind of thing, watch Shirley Temple movies when she was 3. The sexual innuendo written in the short films was tremendous and the ones with the money to watch then were mainly grown men. That was in the 1920s and 1930s. It was exploitation then as it is now.

My question is, Where is Child Protective Services? They take the kid away if you yell at them in Wal Mart, but no action when a mother dresses her little girl as a whore a displays them in public?

The words of Jesus rings true here:
"But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." Matthew 18:6 NIV

I'd just like to mention that I really enjoy watching dog shows. The dogs really look like they're having a great time!.It's nice that their owners are respectful enough to not dress them up in any stupid outfits either.

OK... back to the silly human pageants. You know, the ones where the parents should've gotten an AKC registered poodle instead....

Beauty pageants are already borderline despicable... Parading and rating women as if they're prize cattle up for auction, putting numbers and rankings on their respective external "beauty," which is all a veiled way of appraising their sexual attractiveness. Why do we put such premium on men who are "married to supermodels" etc.?

To put children in the same position is even more revolting, because

1. It tells the child that this sort of thing is normal and to be expected in this world

2. It invites us to judge children, pre-pubescent children on their attractiveness, which is something none of us should be concerned with

and

3. The children we subject to these public, televised spectacles are so young that they don't fully understand what is going on, what is at stake... I'm sure that given the choice they'd rather stay home and play with their friends, but they're being driven to partake in a television spectacle for reasons beyond their understanding by parents who see nothing wrong with dolling up their offspring as prostitutes and parading them before the world as things to be rated, critiqued, judged purely on their physical appearance.

First, this show is exploiting children. It is the parents' faults as well as TLC and its executives for even choosing to broadcast this crap.

Now, onto the real motivation for the show. Of course it's money. It always comes down to money. Yes, perverts are going to watch the show. Pedos may not get close to the little wannabe starlets, but who's to say they won't? Do we know for sure that all the producers, camera men, and other people on the set have had background checks? Look at how many people are arrested with child porn that work for Disney. This kind of entertainment brings them out. Pedos will watch it and the worst of them will want to be as close as possible to it. Some may even have the skills or connections to get hired to work on set.

Let's just face facts here. These are obviously not the type of parents who are all that protective over their children. I've read enough news to know that parents will and do solicit their children for sex. Police often catch pedos by acting as though they are a parent who would be OK selling their child to the pedo. If this didn't happen in the real world, no pedo would fall for this bait and risk getting arrested.

Lastly, the TV is there for PROGRAMMING.
Yep, that's right, folks. I'm talking about mind control.
As long as it's beamed into your living rooms, society will soon become desensitized to it and before you realize it, it's become a normal part of society. This is why people need to fight against this type of show. Why are there more shows directed at a child's appearance than their intelligence? It's all about the dumbing down of humanity. Just keep them entertained.

I could go on and on about how destructive these shows are, but I believe I've gotten my point across. Television show/programs have gotten so "low IQ" that it's disturbing. I'd rather watch kids on Jeopardy than this show.

Once again, Bleak just has to sound off on a matter like this. I really hate to have my post list full of topics like "this" but dammit, this stuff sure can get me riled up.

Basically, I find this stuff to be pure trash. Seriously, just consider the basic premise of it all - it's wrong on many levels. Furthermore, there's the matter of gender - if this were males and females involved, that would be bad enough; however, I once again must point out the fact that it's not boys but seemingly exclusively girls who are victimized by these subhuman maggot freak ****s (I'm inclined to make it clear that I'm speaking specifically of anyone who attempts to kids into whores). These "people" make me ****ing sick and they need to suffer tremendously. I suppose that all they can do now is pray that the revolution never happens; if it does, these "people" will regret the day they were born. Worthless goddamned mother****ing vermin.

This is the biggest load of goddamned trash, ever. I am SO ****ing sick of this ****ing damned nonsense, which I have heard many times on this site. Here's a ****ing newsflash for you, friend: recognizing something as sexualizied and actually considering something sexy are two very, very different things. So please, do not go there.

yes, doing it for a tv show to be viewed by millions is much worse than walking around town like this.

Why? It's TV.....It's supposed to be entertaining. Your argument makes no logical sense......Would it have been better for Jack Benny to walk the streets of 1950's America dressed in drag than it would have been for him to do it on stage and television (as he often did)....Not that I think there's anything wrong with it, even if he had....I"m simply making the point that TV is entertainment....Many more people saw Jack Benny dress as a woman on stage than would have if he was walking the streets that way...but I imagine that had he done so on the streets rather than on stage, the general public wouldn't have been cheering him on and laughing! ......On the contrary some group of drunken jack asses probably would have beaten the tar out of him.

You make an excellent advertisement for Hillary's "It Takes A Village", promoting socialism and a one world govt, statism.

No, children are not the property of society. Parents are always the guardian of their children. Parents are the representatives of our Father/Mother God, not the State.
Maybe Society really is failing the children however, because Society is allowing Hollywood to set the moral standard.

All I can say is, if this freaks you out so much, I can only assume you cannot stand Halloween. Can you imagine toddlers dressed like ladybugs or superheroes? oh the humanity! Those poor kids are going to grow confused thinking they are cows or teddy bears.

Sarcasm aside, while, I do find it personally distasteful, unless the parents require the girl to dress like that in a daily basis, I don't see what the big deal is. It is no different from any kind of role playing type of dress up. Kids do not take any of that nearly as seriously as you do.

-rrr

oh yah, what's worse? Children in a pageant with black boots or children on Halloween dressed as gory spooks, although babies costumes are usually limited to pumpkins.
