I have had enough and it's time to start shifting the focus here.
Seeing that I haven't authored a thread in a while...
(although this one might be pushing the boundaries a bit)
Before you go on reading, just remember one thing...
This is an observation.
There are good people out there that actually do their jobs.
There are good service men/women that protect us. (police, firefighters, military, etc.)
But just realize that I am seeing the opposite side here.
I am stating the obvious.
Our taxes pay for more than good services.
And I see the negative as well as the positive.
I am a realist.

Here goes:

This is merely an observation from your typical law abiding citizen.
With respect to the Constitution and our Bill of Rights.
We, as citizens of the United States of America, have inalienable rights.
Given to us at birth upon American soil.
If you don't know them, stop reading right now. (you have work to do)

BUT:
Want to know the worst part?

Your taxes pay for the "police state!"

Do I need to state this again?
Need I repeat myself?
How is it that all Americans don't see this?
This realisation should be the shot heard around the world!
(if you don't know what that started, stop reading right now, you have more work todo)

We have all watched the videos of unruly officers, beatings and abuses...
They are being deleted on a daily basis, from the higher ups, if you pay attention.
We have all watched the videos of peaceful protests gone bad.
They are still out there.
One of my favorite posters, mnemeth, has a multitude of threads pointing out the obvious.
Search his threads, if interested.
I can link 100 threads involving subjects that show the loss of American freedoms...
But that is not my main point today.

There is a rise in violence across the nation.
There is a substantial dismantling of our rights if you look around.

We have a million threads about the state of affairs right here in the USA!
A sad state of affairs, if you ask me.

My main point in this entire thread is to get the average reader to understand one simple thing.

Your taxes, state and federal, have funded the entire system you know as the Police force.
Your hard-earned money has been used to setup a nation of over-bearing, power hungry criminals.
It has been used to setup the exact government we are all unhappy with today.
Face it, your taxes are being used against you.

So you see, Americans have funded their own demise.
After years of apathy and distraction, complacency and ignorance...
The money supply has been endless and well stocked.
It has funded our own spy network, and it has funded our internal military force, etc.
It has been used to build the most powerful military on the planet.
Your taxes are funding every secret operation being used against it's own citizens.
And it has been used to build up a police force that is daily changing into a military force.

So, ATS readers...
What does that tell you?

That the money was never ours in the first place.
And the people who really own the money
will decide what it is to be used for
weather we like it or not.

Also that The State
has completely given up
on being supported in it's decisions
by a well informed public, but instead has
decided that a fearful and repressed public is
much easier to handle, and much more consistent
in both its behavior and in the kinds of solutions it demands.

I don't like it any more than you do.

I think you may be throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Our tax dollars also funded the honest and brave cops who protect us from gun wielding psychopaths in IHOPs, from gang violence and hostage situations. Our taxes pay for brave firemen and police and EMS like the one who rushed in to WTC on 911 with one thing on their collective minds- saving lives.
As far as politicians go- it may be an overwhelming minority but I believe there are some with our best interests in mind.

Umm... As far as you know, as far as I know, as far as anyone else knows, there hasn't been a rise in police-related violence. Sure, you're seeing more videos of it. And yeah, we're all hearing more news stories about it. Why is this? We're in a huge media era.
These days, everything gets posted on youtube/facebook/twitter and news can and will travel from the east coast to the west coast. Whereas, before the days of all this networking, you'd only see local news, and national news on CNN/Fox/other national news channels. Police brutality was only local news; not worthy of national news coverage in most cases.
So what I'm seeing these days, is not an increase in the number of police-related violence, but rather an increase in the distance the news travels.

There are still good cops out there defending our rights. Unfortunately, we only hear about the vast, vast, (dare I say it again) VAST minority of cops who overstep their boundaries. There are over 700,000 police officers in the United States. And we hear about police brutality how often? Even if there was a case of it every single day, that's still only .052% of the police force!

My point is that I'd rather my tax dollars go towards a police force than not. The amount of good, law-abiding cops makes up for the bad apple here and there.
