Twin Suicide Bomb Blasts Kill 22 in SW Pakistan

The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for a pair a suicide bomb attacks targeting the house of a top Pakistani security officer Wednesday, that killed at least 22 people including the officer's wife.

Police said the first attacker detonated his vehicle outside the residence of the deputy head of Pakistan's paramilitary Frontier Corps in the southwestern city of Quetta. After that blast, a second bomber on foot stormed the officer's house and detonated his explosives.

Why should they care? Even if they did care, what then?

They (UK and US amongst other countries) have faced similar incidents. However their SYSTEM (political, national security, intelligence...etc) has prevented another such attack from occuring (Not too sure about UK though another major attack can occur anywhere if the system is weak).

I believe the attacked nation should take the initiative and responsibility to fix their own issues first before seeking external help.

Well just because this is a conspiracy website doesn't mean that everything is a product of conspiracy.

Wahabi sect is still part of ISLAM just a bit dominant then other islamic sects.

Surely the West has always been a convenient direction to point the fingers for the locally cultivated terrorist groups just the way most of the terrorist attacks in the West leads them to point fingers towards the East.

You reap what you sow. If pakistan harbors terrorists and allows them to flourish, surely there will be fallout onto the locals (mostly to do with local political agendas and not geopolitics). This is also an old technique used by several civilizations to curb the support for the appropriate political parties within.

Besides the West will do far more damage on a much larger scale if it needed to address their extremistic ideas (if any).

The Attack

The attack began when a suicide bomber in a sports utility vehicle packed with explosives rammed his car into a convoy of Frontier Corps officers outside Shahzad's house, triggering a massive explosion, police said. Moments later, a second attacker rushed into Shahzad's house, hurling grenades inside before detonating his suicide bomb vest. Shahzad was seriously injured in the attack, police said. Several senior Frontier Corps officers were killed or injured. Police identified the suicide bomber on foot as Ahmad Gul, a 21-year-old Afghan refugee living in the northwest Pakistani city of Peshawar. His identification card was found amid severed body parts found at the blast site.

The Associated Press quoted Quetta police as saying they were checking whether Wednesday's blasts were meant to avenge the arrests of Al Mauritani and the other two Al Qaeda operatives. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was retaliation for the arrests of the three Al Qaeda operatives, according to Agence France-Presse.

What's really troubling is that Pakistan is a nuclear state!

I am hoping the Pakistani leadership has enough sense to have erected its nuclear facilities east of the river Indus where the situation is much more peaceful and orderly than the Pushtun and Baluchistani populated areas to the west of the country.
