I've been down to Texas a couple of times for a fire fighting course at Texas A & M .All the people in the course and also in College Station seemed nice and friendly. This discussion of American/Canadain is stupid as both countries have + and -. I mean for me personally my job is with a large American company,I drive an American made truck, 95% of my firearms are American made plus I have lots of friends in North Dakota I hunt with . I really don't see a lot of differances between the 2 countries. My friends south of the border will always be my friends no matter what anyone says here.

I love the queen buddy what are you going to do about it.

Nobody cares if you hate canada, I hate your country too.

Your just jealous we can play extreme sports and not get put in the hole over an injury.

If our country wants to smash up a city over a hockey game then thats fine, thats how we warm it up chris.

It'll be a real pity when you run out of fresh water, clean air, lumber, and electricity.
A real pity that your banks are greedy crooks and stole everything from the working class.
A real pity when your Patriot Act demolishes privacy and due process.
I have 3 guns, one semi-auto.
No noisy dangerous neighbors, i'm surrounded by trees and fields.
I enjoy miles of clean beach 10 min from my house, pretty well to myself.

Just the other day I got a flat tire. I started looking for the jack when out of the blue a guy living across the street came up with a nice hydrolic jack helped me change the tire. Invited me back to his shed for a puff after. All from a guy I never met. Real nice guy, being nice to his neighbor.

Keep your pity for those who really need it, like the bankrupt guy out your window.
Up here in Canada we seem to be fairing a little better than you.
Be sure not to steal our identity when traveling abroad now!!

That is not a generalization at all, just like this isn't sarcasm at all.

Also, on a quality scale, this rant ranks at a "Meh"/shrug level.

This American likes Canucks. Just sayin...

I visited Canada recently (Me a 51 y/o Florida Cracker American superlifer) and somehow missed the Canada you described. The Canada I visited was clean, friendly and full of big cars, houses, yards and BIG waterfalls (Niagara)
I am a gun owner with a concelled carry permit here, of course didnt have my pistol in Canada but then again while in Toronto never felt I needed it. Unlike Orlando, Miami, sometimes Tallahassee and any rest stop along I-95 in the middle of the night back in my America. I wonder......Did I visit a different Canada perhaps? Is there another Canada full of misery and despair somewhere else out there that I missed?

Canada is a country of some 30 million losers who'm all accept being subjects of the Queen and the Common Wealth. Canadian's love their government health care system (About to be as piss poor as Brittan(s) bye bye dental) As is in Canadians mind who really cares that you are taxed to death so long as your helping out the lazy bum down the road who wont work at all.

Yes yes..this cold homogeneous society which actually thinks its lucky living in year round ice hell and still cannot even hold a government running long enough without the Queen having to step in and liquidate the parliament.

Looking from a free nation across the border into the slave territory's of Canada...Americans often wonder why anyone would choose a life of never amassing wealth or owning a nice large vehicle or two. A large house with a back yard and front or perhaps some acreage..Just why would anyone ever stay beholden to the idea of never owning a gun for protection? This thought makes most Americans sad as we fought a civil war and lost two presidents to end slavery and human rights violations yet they are still here just to the north of the US.

Yes..during Hockey season and championship losses its always a pleasure to look off to the North and see these nut cases rioting and burning another one of their socialist towns down to the ground. It makes for a real treat over some nice popped pop corn. Of course when all you care about is "going with the flow eh?" What reasn do you have to stand out and go after all of it that you can in a land that allows you to do so just south of you?

Want to be an illegal alien? Not in Canada my friends...nope..you gotta have a legit reason for becoming a resident of the Soviet Union...I mean Canada..Yeah...Canada.. Think you will have access to all the sweet services an illegal immigrant receives here in America on the fly? More like a swift deportation!

In conclusion...Americans look to the North with pity but also a sigh of relief that Canadians choose to keep their socialist utopia all to themselves and have whatever wet dreams they want about being anything like the United States and its people for all dreams you eventually wake up from.

I needed this message to remind me.. that despite my absolute despair over the situation in the world, orchestrated by the people that really obsess over controlling it.. living in Canada is like living in a baby's crib. It is as close to Utopia as can be imagined by most people in the world. There is something completely evil about it. To be sure. It is NWO HQ. It will not collapse.. because the people running the collapse need a home base. Canada is it. This country is massive.. and no one lives here. And it's not because of the weather. We have rain forests, deserts, beautiful fresh and salt water beaches.. millions of hectares of untouched wilderness. Yes the government is owned and operated by your same Master's... But having traveled outside of Canada, extensively in the USA, Europe and India.. i can tell you... it is like a baby's crib up here. Come here if you want to let someone take care of you.. and if you want to be free.. come here and go into the wilderness. You can own guns. You can smoke weed. You can own a business and avoid taxes. Anything is possible. People are nice here because they are sheltered from life. Not everyone.. but certainly possible to sit back and auto-pilot here. Myself, I've lived on welfare, I've used the health care system. I also own a McMansion, own and operate a business that puts me in the top 5% tax bracket. You can do anything here. Anything. I would be beyond grateful if i didn't recognize that living in this luxury paradise wasn't part of the serious problem with the entire world. I am living on borrowed life. At some point i will have to confront and ultimately accept Reality. But hey.. we all will.

I guess wars have to happen somehow.. when people try so hard to incite them and make them happen. So it's not surprising that "My Country is Better than yours!" is coming up even here at ATS. The USA has the absolute best system in the world.. unfortunately for them and the world they aren't actually using that system.. But nonetheless.. they've defined and actually operated for awhile.. the best system of government in the world. Now, not many would disagree that it's a mess.

Another side story.. My brother lived on the street here for about 6 months. Every night, twice a night, trucks would come down the street and attempt to hand him blankets, food and clothing. EVERY NIGHT. I mean.. it was insane.

People living here in Canada complaining about tax, jobs.. anything should seriously consider taking a trip ANYWHERE in the world. Some country that people have left to come to Canada. Try it. If you are serious about wanting change.. go out and check out the world.. then you will have some context to decide what is wrong here.

I wanted to reply to this so that there are no misconceptions as to how wrong this poster is and how childish.
Lets start from the beginning...

"Canada is a country of some 30 million losers who'm all accept being subjects of the Queen and the Common Wealth"

Jan 1, 1947- Canadian Citizenship Act gives all Canadians Canadian citizenship.
Before, they were considered British subjects.

Apr 17, 1982- Constitution Act is Revised.
-The British Parliament can no longer amend Canada's Constitution.

Okay next ...

"Canadian's love their government health care system (About to be as piss poor as Brittan(s) bye bye dental"

Dental – some specific dental, oral and maxillofacial surgical services performed by a dentist are fully covered. This does not include routine dental care such as cleaning, fillings and the extraction of wisdom teeth.

Good thing I have a toothbrush for cleaning, fillings are my bad for drinking pepsi, and wisdom teeth are still in.
While were here ......

Optometry (vision) – One complete exam, one partial exam and one diagnostic procedure per benefit year are provided for children under 19 years of age and seniors age 65 and over; additional benefits apply for these age groups for some medical conditions.

Podiatry (foot care) – Some specific podiatric surgery performed by a podiatric surgeon are fully covered. Otherwise, some specific services are covered with a maximum benefit of $250 per person each benefit year.

I'm going to keep going

"Yes yes..this cold homogeneous society which actually thinks its lucky living in year round ice hell"

I figured you may have thought it was year round ice hell because we measure our temps in something called Celsius, and this can be confusing. So I got a graph in Fahrenheit,. Lucky you

"and still cannot even hold a government running long enough without the Queen having to step in and liquidate the parliament."

en.wikipedia.org... for the electoral history

As for the queen liquidating parliament ? I nor any other Canadian have ever witnessed the queen selling off members of parliament for low low prices, although I have witnessed members of parliament sell their morals for low low prices.

Moving on ....

"Americans often wonder why anyone would choose a life of never amassing wealth or owning a nice large vehicle or two. A large house with a back yard and front or perhaps some acreage"

Okay so what does $275 000 to $325 000 get me ?

www.century21.ca...

Oh snap a 4 bedroom 3 bath two story at 2200 sq ft , I don't know though that sweet downtown loft is more my style, wait a sec..... is that an acreage ? NO WAY

Still here ? Good because I'm on a roll

"Just why would anyone ever stay beholden to the idea of never owning a gun for protection?"

1998 – BETWEEN 7.2 AND 11 MILLION GUNS IN CANADA – JUSTICE DEPT. Link

So 30 million people, 8 million guns = good chance I own a gun, also good chance that I will use it for protection. Key word is protection, and not murder.

Is there anything that you're right about ? Lets see ....

"Yes..during Hockey season and championship losses its always a pleasure to look off to the North and see these nut cases rioting and burning another one of their socialist towns down to the ground."

Yeah this happened once and I think 20 car's got torched, that's not exactly a city because cities are made of buildings. Either you just started watching hockey or your terribly confused on the definition of words. Note to add, what kind of creepo watches a "city" burn, and thinks "this is a good thing but needs popcorn".

I wonder what this town is named ?

Continuing ......

"Want to be an illegal alien? Not in Canada my friends...nope..you gotta have a legit reason for becoming a resident of the Soviet Union...I mean Canada..Yeah...Canada.. Think you will have access to all the sweet services an illegal immigrant receives here in America on the fly? More like a swift deportation!"

Really ?

Really ? really ? Where did you pick up this understanding of immigration law ? Check this out all you have to do is say that you face persecution in your own country, and that this persecution may involve physical or mental harm, and presto you can stay. There is a lengthy immigration hearing, but if it seems to be going sour you can delay it up to 7 years, and in the meantime you have plenty of time to have a child that will give you guaranteed citizenship also known by the unsavory term "anchor baby".

Don't believe me ? here read the charter of rights and freedoms in our constitution act passed in 1982. Note that it applies to all immigrants as well both documented and non documented

www.solon.org...

In conclusion you were wrong on every point you made. Very, very wrong. I don't pity the USA, I pity the ignorant fools that hold beliefs with no grounds. Spout facts that are much less than accurate, and come off looking sad because of laziness in their fact checking, and educational efforts in general.

God bless America, I am proud to stand beside the people of this great land in any turmoil, that includes you OLD77, and I stand armed with a full set of teeth.

Canada is one of the best countries on earth.
America is one of the worst countries on earth.
I am not Canadian.
OP is a whiney little beeutch and an example of the kind of halfwit that gives America a bad name/gets elected President.
If only you could see your bloated nation through foreign eyes you'd know why so many people dislike America.

It's people like you that make the world think American's are retarded. If you still think Canada is frozen all year around you must live in the deep south. Normally I wouldn't even give a post like this a reply, but when you bash my country it's hard not to reply (ultimately contributing
) to this poorly thought out rant.

You appear to have missed a lot of what is going on up there. In the mid 1990's Canada turned the other way which is why their dollar has gone up. They have redeemed themselves after realizing the problems with cradle to grave. Canada is now more Capitalistic than the US and we need to follow their lead.

I remember you. You used to make misleading and uneducated statements about my country. Looks like it hasn't changed.

For one, in the mid 90s, we joined the FTA (later NAFTA). On paper, it looked really nice with the prospect for mass job production and a stronger integrated North American economy.

Unfortunately, the ground reality is worse off. Food costs have risen, price of living has risen, paychecks have lowered (if you're lucky enough to have a job).

We took a que from the American playbook on imperialism: the government allows immigrants to come here to take over our labour jobs at low wages. This is good for the corporations, very bad for the Canadian people. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a reasonable job in this country now? Unless you like working at McDonalds or Dairy Queen or Walmart, you need to spend thousands on job training just so you can obtain the opportunity to acquire an adequate job.

And you think a higher Canadian dollar is a good thing? You must not know anything about basic economics, especially when tourism happens to be a top tier industry here. The higher our dollar, the less chance foreigners will come to Canada and inject their money into our economy. This also means that Canadian tourists will end up spending more of their money in other countries, specifically the US. The optimal value for the Canadian dollar is really around $0.76 to the American dollar.

And you think Canada is more capitalist than the US? No, it's not. Canada most certainly has a higher wealth gap between the poor/middle class and the super-rich than the US, but the rich constitute a minority here (usually centered around Toronto/Ottawa anyways). Where I live, we would rather trade and bargain with commodities like salmon, video games, alcohol, smokes and tokes, than with cash. Doesn't seem very capitalistic to me.
