Hurricane Katia has become a monstrous Category 4 storm as it moves across the Atlantic Ocean.

On Monday night, Katia’s maximum sustained winds had increased to 135 mph. Some strength fluctuations are expected before the storm slowly weakens.

Hurricane specialist Todd Kimberlain says it’s looking less likely that Katia will hit land but that wind from the storm could still affect the U.S. East Coast as it moves north. Forecast maps show it veering to the northeast, away from the U.S. in the coming week.

Katia is centered about 450 miles south of Bermuda and is moving northwest near 10 mph.

Here we go again. Lets see how this affects Wall street tomorrow and the rest of the week.

I've been keeping a close eye on this
hurricane and hoping we see more
of a northeast turn soon. Conditions
could change and it could have an
effect on the coast more than anticipated.

Hopefully it really goes north east as the models say it will... otherwise the east coast is gonna get hammered.

What is said so far to expect swells(more now that it is upgraded) heading toward the US, etc. Looks so far it will continue it's path right into the lower half of Eastern Seaboard(barely missing N. FL).

Latest models have it hitting either Iceland or Britain next Monday - though of course by then it'll be just an extratropical cyclone.

I'm still waiting on the hurricane that will be the final death blow to New Orleans, you know its going to happen and frankly I dont want my tax dollars spent going to waste to rebuild it again when that money would be better suited to building them a town that can't be swallowed by the gulf of mexico. Take ancients civilizations, when disaster struck like that, they moved somewhere safer and rebuilt there.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says Katia’s maximum sustained winds early Tuesday have decreased to near 125 mph (205 kph). The hurricane center says some fluctuation in strength is possible over the next 24 hours followed by slow weakening.

then becomes a 2 but then gets up to a cat5 does a sharp left turn and hits FL passes over FL in to GOM still at 3, circles a round goes out the way it came in now a 2 heads up the east coast becomes a 4 and hits NY. do not know if this is the one, but one storm will do just this. and the storm starts with a K

I have read that Katia will not head towards land, but it seems like it certainly has a small possibility of heading in towards New York and the entire New England area.

That is one big hurricane. It keeps fluctuating between a Cat 4 and a Cat 3.
