i can think of no way that our universe is able to be infinite, because it cant go on forever. forever is an abstraction, a word with with no real meaning. if the universe is expanding, then it must be expanding within and into somewhere, or it would'nt be able to expand at all. if its creating itself, making space in front of it as it goes along, then it still must be creating itself within somewhere. so wether its expanding, or even if it actually wraps around itself and is curved, then where is beyond it? and to say nowhere is beyond it, makes no sense whatsoever, nowhere is also an abstract word whos definition has no real meaning. somewhere must be there on the otherside of its edge, if it has an edge. even if there are multiple universes surrounding eachother, they cannot go on forever either. there still must be somewhere beyond them as well...

so all that i am left with is the feeling i get whenever i look out into space. its a holographic illusion, it only appears to go on forever, because i can only see it, only perceive it, with my limited senses and even looking at it and thinking about the universe this way, as an illusion, still brings us right back to the same mysterious question. what is on the other side of this illusion? and wherever that is must also itself be somewhere and where is beyond there? even if there are other dimensions, invisible and surrounding our universe, there must be somewhere beyond them as well...

my mind is spinning and reality starts to blurr at the thought of not being able to come up with a valid answer to this perplexing mystery, where is the otherside of a universe that never ends? this answer, whatever it is, means everything, its where we are...

I will wait for the experts to answer your question as I am extreamly interested in the answer

I'm sure someone on ATS will have a real cool explanation

Thanks for bringing it up !

i heard of the theory, that universe is like an expanding bubble.
you cannot reach the edges, because the dimension room (space) is bend.
so, if you think you "fly" straight forward, you actually fly in a curve.
just like gravitation can bend light, and black holes are black.

This is just a suggestion, the other side of our universe could be linked with the 11th dimension.

M-theory and the law of the one got a explanation to big bang that could be real. A collision between two universes or parallel universes could create a new brane-universe which begins in a singularity.

M-Theory is not realy a theory yet, just a bunch of mathematical ideas put together and not proven in reality so it could be a hoax. If it is a hoax it's a perfect mathematical hoax, you don't see a lot of those. These two short video clips should give insight to both concepts and seams alot more credible than most other explanation's. With these theories you can follow time back thrue the singularity before our universe.

What is past the 11th dimension and how large it is would be wild guesses. Even this is a bit extreme.

this theory is dependant of the point that size is constant. which its not

its possible for an entire universe to exist in something the size of an atom.. so technically the universe could go forever but it might not be as big as you think

but what’s important to know is anything is possible.
its very humbling to think that i could be exist purely in a drop of rain in another universe or time or place or another place that we cant even comprehend.

Reminds me. As a kid I used to say our universe could be a living thing inside a much larger entity, like a drop of blood in our veins. That would give the word God more weight huh?

My conclusion as a child was that "We can only guess, but that there got to be more than what we can see outside the "border" of our universe".

As you said even if theres a wall at the edge, that wall cant be infinite thick and must expand into something and there got to be something on the other side. So I came up with the bloodcell idea as a way to explain. I dident thing of extra dimesions back then, but a bloodcell would be great for explaining that. The cell useually live its life inside the vein, and don't get into contact with higher dimesions outside the bloodvessels.

well its a theory that has just as much if not more credibility and statistical probability then most other mainstream theories.
and no i don’t think that it gives any weight to god, it actually makes the anorexic goat a little skinnier
