After the release of a video of Micah Garen, where he tells that he is safe and being treated well, militants agreed to set free Garen and his translator on Saturday after evening prayers. Today, Sunday, Garen was set free after being taken hostage on August 13th.

Garen was on a story reporting the looting of archaological sites in Iraq, he was kidnapped while walking with his translator Amir Doushi in Nasiriyah. Garen was threatened to be executed if the United States didn't pull their troops out of the holy city of Najaf. Al Sadr asked Garen's captors to release him and his translator and they complied with those wishes. They released Garen unharmed.
