Unexpected Asteroid Strike Could Start A Nuclear War

This is a subject that has been a concern for those tasked with the responsibility of detecting a nuclear attack and has been addressed to the satisfaction of most.

A thermonuclear detonation makes a unique double flash that is distinctly recognizable from the single flash of a cosmic impact.

The reason is a thermonuclear weapon requires a fission detonation to create the temperature and pressure required to initiate the secondary fusion detonation so bang! BANG!

Norad has been well aware of this for over 50 years and have modified the algorithms of the detection templates accordingly.

In summary... no, there is no danger of a cosmic impact being mistaken for a nuclear attack.

the knee jerk,trigger on the finger,looking for trouble,shoot first and ask questions later,filled with fear, present day state of the world, would pretty much eliminate any professional examination of a blasted area...imagine if a small tunguska sized object were to explode over and destroy tel aviv and if this object approached from the direction of the sun we "would not" see it coming. the initial reaction would be..."which belligerent,axis of evil nation, fired the missile"?..."they will pay"! and suppose that it came from the same direction and trajectory that just happened to line up with a country that had nuclear missiles? and especially india and pakistan who border eachother, who already hate eachother and both have nuclear weapons, there would be no pause for days or weeks long investigations, it would be a case of one country instantly blaming the other and...lets get em and hit em fast and hard! riots in the streets and a mob rules mentality unleashed...

Again, part of the confirmation process involves verification that the unique elements of a nuclear detonation are present before the information is passed along the chain of command.

There are several distinctive characteristics, in the range of visible light, from nuclear explosions. One of these is a characteristic "dual flash" measured by a bhangmeter. This went into routine use on the advanced Vela nuclear detection satellites, first launched in 1967. The earlier Velas only detected X-rays, gamma rays, and neutrons.

The bhangmeter technique was used earlier, in 1961, aboard a modified US KC-135B aircraft monitoring the preannounced Soviet test of Tsar Bomba, the largest nuclear explosion ever detonated. The US test monitoring, which carried both broadband electromagnetic and optical sensors including a bhangmeter, was named SPEEDLIGHT.

As part of Operation BURNING LIGHT, one MASINT system photographed the nuclear clouds of French atmospheric nuclear tests to measure their density and opacity. This operation is borderline with Nuclear MASINT.

Bhangmeters on Advanced Vela satellites detected the what is variously called the Vela Incident or South Atlantic Incident, on 22 September 1979. Different reports have claimed that it was, or was not, a nuclear test, and, if it was, probably involved South Africa and possibly Israel. France and Taiwan have also been suggested. Only one bhangmeter detected the characteristic double-flash, although US Navy hydrophones suggest a low-yield blast. Other sensors were negative or equivocal, and no definitive explanation has yet been made public.

Putting it as simply as possible, all the nuclear powers have satellites that monitor every square inch of the Earth, specifically looking for the tell-tale signs of a rocket launch. If they do not detect such a launch, it eliminates the possibility that the asteroid was an incoming missile. These same satellites would record the impact of the asteroid, so that even if there were a moment when the country's government thought it might be a nuclear explosion, they would quickly realize that it was a meteorite. It is possible that a government might use this as a pretext for starting a war, but no-one would believe them.

hi and thanx for your comment ^^^ theres a 50/50 chance that an incoming asteroid will approach us from somewhere in and around the direction of the sun and if so, we "would'nt see it coming" as they would be "impossible to detect from any earth based observations" ,as one of the above links states...so we better hope that when we are struck and we will be quite unexpectedly someday,it does'nt slam into,or explode above a major city...within the range of a country with nuclear capabilities...

even if it were expected our seasoned terror state shadow goverment would exploit to the max, the existing depopulation agenda
