Sweet.... Turkey finally manning up to the bullies.

Report: Turkey navy to escort aid ships to Palestinians in Gaza

Turkish officials tell Hurriyet Daily News that Turkish navy will strengthen presence in eastern Mediterranean Sea to stop Israeli 'bullying'.

"The eastern Mediterranean will no longer be a place where Israeli naval forces can freely exercise their bullying practices against civilian vessels," a Turkish official was quoted as saying.

As part of the plan, the Turkish navy will increase its patrols in the eastern Mediterranean and pursue "a more aggressive strategy".

According to the report, Turkish naval vessels will accompany civilian ships carrying aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Additionally, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan instructed his foreign ministry to organize a trip for him to the Gaza Strip in the near future.

Hell yeah Erdogan! Israel's government bullying needs to stop. Turkey's navy will make sure of that.

And if Israel wants to go at it with Turkey, they better ready their nukes because that's the only way they gonna win.

Israel needs to man up, SUPPORT a palestinian state, make economic deals with them... make peace with everyone and stop acting like they are above everyone else. Going to war isn't what a real leader does. Going to war is ``easy``... what is hard is NOT going to war and DEAL with the actual problems.

Sh*t's going down. Wow. I heard about Turkey getting pissed off at Israel but I didn't know this would happen. I hope they don't get into a skirmish.

the Turks may do a better job of defending their citizens than the USA did when the Liberty was attacked.
their political system having fewer delusions.
and who knows, Israel might act in a more mature and realistic way.

something to keep an eye on.

If I remember right it was the Russian Navy that saved the remainder of the Liberty crew..

But hopefully Turkey will stick to their words..

Lets see how Israel go facing a real military rather than poor peasants with home made rockets..

Wonder how tough the IDF really is..

Israel has shown that they have constantly faced real threats and beaten them, Turkey will fail trying to break a legal blockade.

Who and what have Israel faced??
Don't kid yourself, Egypt was the most superior force Israel has faced and they made sure they attacked them first..

Turkey's ships will be armed and ready unlike Egypt's air-force or the Egyptian schools that a cowardly Israel attacked.

Actually it's dubious whether the blockade is legal. Regardless, it's unethical, because Israel is regulating what and who goes in and out of Gaza, preventing much-needed aid in such a cramped and impoverished area.

Nah, sounds more like Israel is asking for it IMO...
And have been for a LONG time...
Self fulfilling prophecy springs to mind.

The report was originally expected to be completed in February. But Turkey and Israel were never able to agree on what happened and what the conclusions of the report should be, diplomats and UN officials said. As a result, one UN official said, the report is not a "consensus document."

www.haaretz.com...

You're right..
The legality issue of the blockade has NEVER been settled.

WOW, this is bold. Who do you think will blink first?

As to the legality of the blockade who cares, Israel doesnt give a hoot about International law so who gives them the right to act like this blockade is legal according to International law, The hypocrasy is mindnumbing, the same goes for nukes, we can have them but no one else in the middle east may. STFU

I for one am glad that Turkey finally has the cajones to stand up to the bully.

Its going to be an interesting game to watch.

Dude, you're one of those guys that is a total mystery to me. We agree on almost everything, but when it comes to Israel, we couldn't be further apart. Same with our Aussie friend...

Now, with the pleasantries out of the way, Turkey is making a BIG mistake. They just booted out the Israeli ambassador, and now they are planning to escort aid ships to Gaza? Man oh man are they in for a surprise.

They've been relatively close to Israel over the past decade, up until the Mavi Marmara incident. I think that they are under the impression that because of that relationship, or perhaps because they have a strong military and membership in NATO, that Israel will back down. They couldn't be more delusional if they took a handful of brown acid at Woodstock.

I guarantee that if Turkish warships interfere with the Israeli blockade of Gaza that there will be bloodshed, and the dead won't be just a few terrorists but Turkish military personnel. Once that happens, Turkish civilians will be calling for an all out war; and they'll get it too. It's been a long time since an Arab army stood up against the Israelis, but every time is has happened in the past, the Arabs limped away humiliated. I fear the Turks have forgotten this lesson.

And if they are planning on their NATO membership to provide them any backing, then again: They must be dreaming. There is no way an American led NATO is going to take up arms against Israel. If the Europeans attempt to do it on their own (Germany won't, that's a given) then that could spell the end of NATO altogether.

I don't see ANY good coming from this.

I dont think any side will blink at all. The Israelis don't back down as a general principle and the Turkish PM is rapidly painting himself into a corner where backing down would result in too much loss of political standing.

I think this has the potential to turn into an almighty mess. Sometimes a game of chicken results in 2 fatalities.

For the blockade to be legal they need a declaration of war. Something they don't have because Israel declared the war was over. And we know the real threats that they have faced this pic shows what kind of enemy they face.

Well then IMO end NATO and show the US for what it really is, a lap dog for Israel...

I just want the Israeli government to stop acting like spoiled kids and give the Palestinians their damn state... Treat the Palestinians as human beings.

Doing a blockade and sanctions on any country is always hurting the people at the bottom of the ladder... kids and women. Kids and women aren't terrorists. Kids, if you treat them like crap and they see their family, friends and house blown up all the time, they'll turn into terrorists and it won't take long. Not to mention if you keep them into eternal poverty by doing a blockade on them.

Turkey should break the blockade and if Israel objects, let them sink a Turkish ship and see what happens. The Israeli government should be under arrest if it ever leaves Israel. Bunch of war criminals, all of them. Same goes for the US government. And the Hamas government.

In other news...

Tony Blair plans to meet with Israeli, Palestinian officials in coming days (Reuters)

Translated into reality : British war criminal Blair to meet with Israeli war criminal official and Palestinian war criminal official in coming days.

The world needs justice and a rule of law, not war, sanctions or blockades. War criminal scum shouldn't be protected or have diplomatic immunity, they should rot in jail.

Netanyahu is a nut... hell his coalition has in it Avidgor Lieberman, one of the most insane politician in Israel. And THAT guy is foreign minister! No wonder Israel has no peace!
