Heres a more suitable syntax to decrypt the file, which i adjusted to open it:

% openssl enc -d -aes-256-cbc -in sDgo3FDksdGwsrkrS.enc -out cablegate-201108300212.7z -k 'Gw0whe$PfehwH[W%$%0sfwFGOENqi24yHSFP[NKFwekqzcxGPAEGMq32pfewkjnwrHN]#%Fwedqkdg?WM43hgwr#$JhowdnwqQELFDWmenhwREWKwqeq$'

If you use linux/bsd then you should be able to just punch in that command and open the file, though for windows you would need this: www.openssl.org...

You only need to decrypt it if you downloaded the *.enc file the other day.

Otherwise you can just download the unencrypted cablegate-201108300212.7z file directly from here:
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:AUHKVFRXREM7DCVK54MBDBGHQNPHLG5J

Btw if no-one realised, its the full cablegate documents in html format (301650 files, 359 folders).

Ex; snippet of the contents:

I'm looking at the unpacked 60gb file(not the entire originally 1.4gb insurance file), but the latest 557mb released file that unpacks to almost 60gb, and as you say it is basically a backup of their website in html format, all can be read of course, but I'm not sure there is anything that is going to be groundbreaking in any of this. So far I'm smelling a Mossad rat, more investigation is definitely needed atm though.

Seriously what sort of truth can we expect from some imbeciles who took a bribe to remove the bank of America cables, time will tell, still smelling that rat though.

The "OpenSSL=" comand string means "Open Secure Socket Layer" in reference to file name ### which is AES256 encrypted. The "Code" string prior to that is the "password" to activate the AES256 encrypted file.

I'm too skeptical to bother doing it as I have no idea what is hidden behind or torjaned within the file. The fact that it is zipped means it could house an .exe (executable) virus or spyware program. I'm going to sit this one out and wait for the more brazen amongst us to explore what is hidden there.

Based on the feedback so far it appears to be a comma-delimited text file that may be needed to be imported into some type of database or spreadsheet in order to read properly. I'm looking forward to seeing if this anything meaningful. My opinion based on what I know now is that this is simply a full archive of all of the cable data they have obtained to date and has nothing to do with the insurance file they referenced earlier in the year. I suspect this is simply a distribution attempt to ensure their archives remain unscathed by hacker attacks and live in perpetuity in the public domain.

We'll see...

Just digging about on the web - wikileaks site cable page has this snippet:

Currently released so far... 251287 / 251,287

So that is it, they are all out.

I missed this B of A action - am I supposed to beleive that Assange took a bribe to bury some cables about them? Because I don't beleive it. If it is true then the whole #ing world is not the same as I thought it was. Seriously? No way!

Its hard to know what to believe these days does anyone have a link to the accusations that wikileaks accepted bribes to remove Bank Of Americas content?

I am totally out of my league with all this stuff- I'm a cyber moron.
If any of this stuff turns out to be interesting info, could someone post a simplified summary of it for people like me??
Thankie kindly!

From what I have read - what is the big deal with this file. All the cable are on the web site in a searchable form:

www.theregister.co.uk...

"Given that the full database file is downloadable from hundreds of sites there is only one internally rational action," WikiLeaks said, adding that it wants to use crowdsourcing techniques to hunt for juicy nuggets in the vast treasure trove of information.

This is where wikileaks has told people to tweet they're findings i suggest keeping an eye out there.

tryed to break it down by separating the characters of this:
AES256CBC: Gw0whe$PfehwH[W%$%0sfwFGOENqi24yHSFP[NKFwekqzcxGPAEGMq32pfewkjnwrHN]#%Fwedqkdg?WM43hgwr#$JhowdnwqQELFDWmenhwREWKwqeq$

and this is what I got, just a bunch of characters lumped together:

AESCBC: GPHWFGOENHSFPNKFGPAEGMHNFWMJQELFDWREWK

256: 00243243

256: 0$[%$%024[32]#%?#$$

wwhefehwsfwqiywekqzcxqpfewkjnwrwedqkdghgwrhowdnwqmenhwwqeq

I can only get this far, then I'm blank on what it means. This might be a complex computer code and what the purpose of it is unknown to me.

I haven't read a book on quantum physics so I'm kind of in the dark on this one.

My understanding is that this is the un redacted version meaning they havent even self filterd the file and it has all the peoples real names in it.

It still is parts of the insurance file, and includes mostly everything in it.

A few weeks ago Assange took a bribe from Bank Of America and removed Bank of America cables. What a twat.

I'd say a twat would state something like that, without offering an ounce of evidence nor dare i say actual proof along with the comment...so proctor are you a twat? Or have you got some evidence or proof of this?

Proof please...failing that, some evidence to go on would be nice..as for staff at WL being imbeciles, they are actually still breathing, so not that imbecilic are they...add that about 50% of people responding to this thread can't open the file WL created and encrypted, with the key WL provided, and i'd avise you to watch who you're calling names mate.

I believe he's admitted to being "blackmailed".

“We are under a kind of blackmail in relation to those documents that will be dealt with over time”

LINK

Time will tell, but so far I see no cables that are going to change a great deal in this world. Also seems to be a lack of cables regarding Israeli diplomats, and I can understand some cables being kept for insurance, but bearing in mind the little impact the cables that have been released so far have had on the big picture, then I think its time to release some of the best he/they have, and if he has already, well we are going to need alot more evidence than wiki-leaks to bring on the revolution this world needs to remove the corrupt politicians/banks/reserve-banks/intelligence-agencies/etc.

Well, at least i thank you for providing a link and addressing the matter somewhat.

However, i'm curious as to how this from Assange;

“We are under a kind of blackmail in relation to those documents that will be dealt with over time,” he said, though did not divulge the kind of blackmail the organisation was facing or from whom, saying only that “there are a range of possibilities.”

(quoted from a story from the link you provided (www.frontlineclub.com...)

Translates in your mind into this from your post;

Seriously what sort of truth can we expect from some imbeciles who took a bribe to remove the bank of America cables

I'd be amazed if Assange and his organisation wasn't under attempted blackmail, bribery, threats, fake sex charges, and a multitude of other equally nasty methods employed to either discredit him (and therefore his organisation by association), curry favour or outright shut him/them up.

How does any of these obvious 'running scared' tactics employed by the guilty, constitute evidence or proof of them being imbeciles or taking a bribe? The simple answer is that it does neither.

But thanks for taking the trouble to reply.
