Rep. Ron Paul was ready to pounce on President Barack Obama’s request for a Sept. 7 speech before Speaker John Boehner outright rejected it.

Paul, a House Republican from Texas who is a candidate for the presidency, said he was considering whether to use his power as a House member to object to Obama’s surprise request to speak at the same time as a long-planned Republican presidential debate in California.

“It is undignified that the President of the United States would resort to such transparent tactics to step on our Republican debate,” Benton said. “The real losers here are the American people, who deserve the opportunity to watch both events.”

What are your thoughts on this?
Isn't this pretty shady?

He could have simply chose another day, that's all, or even a few days before

I think this is a very nasty & dirty tactic

If republicans did this then dems would be screaming all over left and right
No that doesn't mean i'm trying to make this a partisan issue

Which is precisely why we need to get them all out of office and start over. There are good ones (few and far between, it seems) but if we get rid of them all, we will know the bad seeds are gone.

Not gonna happen, so GO RON PAUL. Our last hope.

Yes, we are about to witness and incredible amount of hypocrisy, probably in this very thread. The knee-jerk defenders of these stupid political machinations annoy me to no end. How they defended it is insulting as well - they didn't think the debate warranted consideration? Really? You mean the people running against you in the election don't warrant consideration? What dictatorial ideas you have there Mr. President. Of course, we're literally waiting months (giving him the benefit of the doubt for the past 3 years) for him to come out with this jobs plan. I suppose it was all formulated over the hours and hours and hours of golf he's played over that same period of time.

Regardless, I won't be watching Mr. Obama speak. I'll read the speech just like him and we'll probably both discover whats in it at the same time.

How very trained of you. We shouldn't expect any better. Whenever one is caught lying the defenders come out and say "show me a politician that doesn't lie". Its sad. That we cannot expect one single person to bring honor to political office shows how jaded, trained, and domesticated we've become.

You mean your not going to watch him 'strut' up to the podium with such (dis)graceful swagger.
The more I listen to him, the more sick I get.

And yes...I DID vote for him. Sucker me!

Ya I kept that in mind, so when I actually say this is dirty I mean it's beyond normal dirty and nasty

Politics is a dog eat dog world, but it is a shame to see these blatant dirty tricks used by a current president. I'm glad someone stepped in putting an end to it while calling it what is. This should be a clear indictor that Obama isn't what he's cracked up to be. I'll be looking forward to the debate.

This is more funny than angering.

We have the right to see both sides of liars and thieves rants.

No reason to tune into Republican debate, it will be another rehash of the last one. God is great, gays are bad, we need us some wars and to hell with socialism, and last, but certainly not least, Obama sucks.

You're all a bunch of whiny crybabies.

You cry worse than the lefties.

Ron Paul still wants to tax me, he's a communist in my book. I flag this thread out of pity. That is all you will get from me though, the whole world can rot like a bums teeth before I ever give up another dime.

I'm curious what the news networks will do. Seems they should be upset about this, as well.

I think it's a pretty lousy move on the Obama camp's part.

Still, between DVR and the internet, the vast majority can watch both at their leisure so it's basically a little theatre to me and nothing more...

The obama team is working on super brutal schemes for his re-election attempt.

Seeing this one here, I'm thinking it is pretty tame compared to what he will do soon..

Some think he will play the race card again and try and get all the white people feeling guilty again about the entire issue so they elect him again, same as last time.. (he's going for the guilt votes again)

He is willing to take to race riots and whatever it takes to get re elected.. Seeing this one here sort of sets the stage for what is coming.. ..
