In the last year I have felt a tightness in my throat. Like I have trouble swallowing, and sometimes I feel like something is strangling me. The best way to get rid of it, I think is to take very deep slow breaths, but I'll be watching TV or reading a book, and the feeling will catch me off guard. Putting my hand on my throat helps remove the pressure. Putting a foreign object on it, however makes it feel worse.

I think it started feeling this way after I went to a psychic, and she told me that my throat chakra was really closed. She also said that she felt like in a past life I died from hanging sometime in France, and the reason being was that I believed a certain religion that wasn't the norm, and I was hanged for believing that. But anyway, yeah, after that idea came into my head, I felt very conscious of my throat and how closed it feels. It makes sense, because when I was little I was always very shy, and I've always had trouble saying what was on my mind. If I had a problem with something, it is very difficult for me to express it. And if it's true that I was killed in a past life for expressing my beliefs, it's no wonder in this life that I'd have trouble expressing my opinions.

But anyway...does anyone know what it might be? And what I can do to help stop it? I think it might be stress-related too. Although I have been trying really hard to relieve stress, etc. It's not a vitamin B deficiency because I take Vitamin B-complex everyday. And I don't smoke and I very rarely consume alcohol. Maybe once a month I will have a drink or two.

Its probably some sort of anxiety issue. Like the feeling you get in your throat when you watch a war or horror movie.

Why don't you go to a Doctor?
Psychic doesn't work.
Stop all smoking if you do.
Gargle with warm salt water

I had exactly the same, its very stress related and it got worse when I tried to sleep. It got worse over time and doctor diagnosed it as a mild panic attack or anxiety.
Anyway I was ordered a medication witch helps and helps me to sleep too, but I dont want to eat too much of those medicin, as its addictive kind and I think it weakens my spiritual abilities.
But go see a doctor and check at least that if its physical or mental kind of problem.
Take care!

Have you seen an allergy specialist recently? You may be mildly allergic to something and not have known it, or developed a new allergic reaction to something in your daily routine that is only starting to bother you now. This is exactly how I found out I was allergic to honeydew melons.

It may even be fully coincidental that it would coincide with your fortune teller experience, and because your mind is so set on it, it could be self-induced.

Instead of seeking help in a forum (I fully understand why you would given the experiences at hand), I suggest going to first seek medical advice. If in the event everything comes back clean in the way of your medical history, then I'd advise seeking other answers.

Good luck!

Yes, I understand your predicament. I have a deep understanding of the energy body and how it affects our physical bodies in our daily lives. Though I am by far no master, I consider myself to be a Light-worker, and would be more then happy to give you some advice on the matter.

This tightness you speak of comes from an imbalanced chakra system, and can be remedied either by others or yourself. Regular doctors will not be able to help you in this matter, as they have no understanding or belief to be able to help you properly.

In order to best help yourself, I would suggest study in meditation and chakra work:
Chakra Info

This is but an example and a simple explanation of the process. In order for you to learn more you must take the time and dedication to do your own research and practice.

If this interests you, I am more than willing to give you advice and support, as I feel that every living being deserves a happy, balanced, and love filled life.

-Namaste

You need to see a dr.
It could be anxiety, Acid reflux, throat cancer, or a neurological disorder like Parkinson's disease, or other nerve disorders.
Dysphagia (trouble swallowing) can be mild or as seen above something more serious...I would not worry about my chakra or past life issues until you rule out that the cause isn't medical!

Agreed! Get it checked by a doctor. Then if they say its all in your head, then work on your chakra's. My brother had the same problem and it turned out to be an allergy to something. Better safe than sorry. I would be happy to try sending you some Reiki for it anyway. I need the experience and feedback

There are three things that I know of that can cause this feeling, I myself have had it many a time. This feeling is most commonly an attribute of anxiety/panic or an allergric reaction to something. The more dyer attributes point to certain forms of cancer, though I don't think this would be the only thing bothering you if you did indeed have cancer. Trying to relax yourself and breathing deeply when this feeling occurs I think would be the best advice I could give.

Thanks guys for the responses. It may very well be possible I should ask a doctor what it might be, but I have a feeling he won't know, and then there goes all my money. Unless there is a free clinic in Buffalo, which I'm not sure of. It's very possible I'm allergic to something. I hadn't thought of that.

It's a lot worse today. My throat feels really heavy. It probably doesn't help that it's really hot and humid today.

It's funny because that website, Crimsonnova you posted, that really helped me for several hours. I would do the tapping thing on my chakras, and I would feel amazing for pretty much throughout the rest of the day. I'll do it again now, and see if my throat feels better.

Silly throat...

And Christarella, if you want to send that reiki energy to me, go for it! I've never had reiki done (at least to my knowledge), but I've only heard positive things about it. Also, besides the tightness in my throat, I have constant jaw pain (I think from grinding my teeth in my sleep), which I feel also causes my shoulder pain, because I feel like the jaw and neck and shoulders are all connected. But anyway yeah, thank you ever so much, and I'll let you know if I feel anything strange afterwards. haha! or hopefully if it even goes away!
