Leaked diplomatic cables from last year (2010) have drawn blatant comparisons between historic apartheid and the current ANC government.

While disputes inside the country have increasingly questioned the origins and credibility of ANC leaders, the US has questioned fascist responses to protests from impoverished communities.

Minorities in SA question race-based politics formed around apartheid identities of white, colored, Indian and black. It seems that rather than offering a cure for SA society, such categories are actually inflaming racial divisions.

Nevertheless, the country seems to be balancing a civil war between various ANC factions at present.

What the ANC thinks of a free media?
Julius Malema calls a BBC journalist a "bastard"; and accuses him of having "white" racist "tendencies".
In a strange way, that episode was blissfully enlightening.
So I'm with the USA cable in this case.

Asking questions and making comments is called a "white tendency".
