She was the more intelligent, conservative answer to Palin who was becoming an embarrassment to the GOP. It's as simple as that.

How is anyone still taking her seriously? I cannot believe the polls show her as a front runner? Perry I get, he isn't a Ron Paul, but he is polished and protected by the mainstream partyliners, but how did Bachmann ever get this far?

The only real candidate resides in my siggy block!

Because strangely enough many people are just as loony as she is. If you ask me she and all of her ilk should be locked up in an insane asylum.

Harm None
Peace

I think you are right about the intention, but in reality Palin is MORE intelligent and more attractive. Bachmann will never have Palin-level support. I don't care for either one, but Palin was less crazy, more connectable to the public, and just nicer to look at. (No crazy eyes!)

Bachmann is more proof of the GOP's complete disconnect with their constituents.

Please, oh please let Paul have some success. Anything else is going to end badly.

Simple, her crazy religious attitude appeals to the crazy religious people in this country.

there was a time when you might be able to get away with saying that but the middle ages have come and gone its time for her to get with the times or move on...

I find it piss poor judgement on the part of many candidates running to go against Ron Paul and try to deflect attention. The country needs him more than ever I could give a # about a house wife's ability to stay married for 33 years.

Hey! Don't forget she raised 23 foster children too! Those are qualifications that the next president needs!

And I completely agree with her: It is a divine warning for us to not vote for her. God saw that she was leading the Republican polls and started having a hissy fit.

Didn't you see her answer to the debate question about her marriage? Her previous answer was to be subservient to her husband's wishes, as evidenced by her going to school and studying something against her own wishes, but in compliance with her husband's demands. Then for the debate, she flip-flopped and said her and her husband have "mutual respect."

It is easy to stay married 33 years when you go along with all of your husband's wishes. Where can I find a wife like that?

ETA: and why aren't we electing her husband? He must be a genius, and he has shown proven leadership in keeping that family together all these years. /sarcasm

She's just plain nuts and uneducated. She's a pathological liar (check Politifact) and clearly doesn't have a clue about economics or anything else that matters...and now she tops it of with an unhealthy dose of Patterson crazy

If the US wants to be regarded as a clown, vote her for president

The prospect of that lady getting anywhere near the white house frightens me more than just about anything else on this site at the moment.

Its bad enough having dead eyed religious fruitcakes in charge of smaller nations. The world doesn't need one in charge of what is the most powerful nuclear arsenal on the planet.

What a truly dismal line up of stooges and losers to select from. Choosing US presidents is like being presented with a choice of fungal infection. Whatever you choose it'll probably hurt and definitely be embarrassing.

To be honest, given that the economy is the US's largest problem right now...the only person I'd vote for and be totally happy about it is Bloomberg. That guy KNOWS about economics and hasn't been afraid to state something controversial in the past. Sadly, he isn't willing to run because (and I quote) he "already has the best job in the world". Can't blame him though...

Or maybe someone like Jim Rogers...but he's not into politics. And that's exactly why I think he would be good. He doesn't care about that politics crap, he only cares about results...and isn't afraid to look at hard facts objectively. That would be much better than having some religious lunatic "pray the crisis away".

If you look at how well nations are doing, you realize that per capita GDP output is the best measure. Countries like Switzerland are doing extremely well, even during a crisis. Having the best military force isn't going to make the people back home well off!! Being an economic power will...so the president should be someone who's got at least some clue about economics. That hasn't been the case since Clinton, and even he made some stupid stuff that we are now paying for. Voting for someone like Bachmann, who has demonstrably no clue would be a DISASTER! Someone force Bloomberg or Rogers to run, hell, make them team up as president and VP.

You know, vote for someone with a functioning brain for a change...

For some odd reason the GOP is attempting to show it has a softer, gentler side by pushing up a couple of attractive female candidates. It is their answer to Clinton and Pelosi -- who are both intelligent as hell, but lack in the "looks" department. It's a damn shame that the GOP is in essence pandering to the lowest common denominator.

The problem is they need to put their brightest in brains out there -- not their smarmiest, or prettiest. Bachmann isn't it. And neither is Perry. When it comes down to it Romney and Paul are the best they've got.
