You could see the agenda in his eyes during the Tasmanian mine collapse. Many could see that Bill would be groomed for the top Job.
This cable is an interesting read,Shorten on a US interview as such, to get approval for the Prime ministers job.
The Fabian stink tank is in crisis,Shorten they believe is the fix to their woes.So we must ask ourselves 'Why does he seek approval from the USA'.

wikileaksaustraliancitizensalliance.net...

The cable, covering a meeting on the 11th June 2009, appears to be in part an audition piece, with Shorten presenting his Prime Ministerial credentials to the US Consul General. In the leaked document he talks about his ambition, criticises the union movement, plays up his friendship with Melbourne business elites, and is disappointed about being overlooked in a recent cabinet reshuffle.

So Aussies, this is what our Government has become, USA lap dog.

It's the United Australian States of America all the way, sadly.

Cheers

Two things:

Firstly,

Its a DIPLOMATIC CABLE not a WL Cable

Secondly,

What made you think Australia wasnt ever a US lap dog?

Everything we've ever done (when it comes to foregin policy and business/economic interests) is not to serve OUR interests but US Interests!

Right now we're right in the middle as we DO recognise the NEW century is the ASIAN century

The economic power shift has started leaning towards Asia and away from the US...

Its interesting to note....
that Australia is basically playing a diplomatic role between China and US (if you read more cables on this and other editorial pieces about this over the years and recent months

IMPORTANT : also see if you can watch this program " Futures Forum " on ABC IVIEW - sub heading Panel and Discussion.... it expires within 11 hours... so be quick to watch it, as it does talk about Australias role with the NEW Asian Century and our position in Asian Pacific and relationship roles we have between China and the US... to keep it stable

Also other cables also discuss the US approaching Rudd when he was PM.. So what should we do about china?

Anyways... The Asian Pacific Summit (asian leaders) is coming up this year, USA and RUSSIA are invited (something that RUDD suggested awhile back I believe)

I also want to point out that this piece of news is actually not new

Remember the newspapers earlier this year reporting we have a spy/agent in our government for the US?

He was to 'seek the numbers' 9 months before RUDD was kicked. So basically the US wanted to know if there was any possibility that RUDD could get kicked out...... long before Australians had an inclinging on the matter.... 9 months before it actually happened.... remember that news story?

The whole "faceless men" 2010 drama was put on the table again earlier this year

They did document his name and attached the corresponding cable on the matter

Thanks for contributing that info.
The Asia situation is well worth a look into,am not sure weather this is a good or bad situation for Australia to be in.While we may be looked up to,to play the role of mediator in the region, its when things go wrong that is of concern.
