Your question is quite valid. Your joke answers aside, what reasons do you really think there could be to use such massive ships? Keep in mind that there are likely serious pros and cons to any decision about craft configuration when travelling such enormous distances. In other words, you wouldn't make a ship any larger than it absolutely needed to be.
