"Mexico Ex-President suggests truce with drug Lords"

México plagued by 40 thousand murders, since declaring war on their nation’s drug dealers, is in the grip of anxiety over this violence and the recent killing of 53 people in a casino by another drug gang attack.

Ex-Mexico President Vincent Fox declaring his frustration with the violence suggests a truce on the war on drugs or even a possible legalization of drugs in that nation in order to stem the horrific violence such as the casino massacre.

Though it is unlikely that this will be done in Mexico because the present president has invested so much in his tactics of sending federal troops to combat the drug gangs, and it is certain the US wouldn’t allow Mexico to do such a thing as legalize drugs for their own selfish reasons having to do with the lucrative drugs and guns profits of US banks.

The question then involves these issues:

Would or could Mexico legalize drugs and if so will that have an impact on the violence in that nation.

And would the US prevent the Mexicans from legalizing drugs, and if so, why would they do this?

MEXICO CITY -- Former Mexican President Vicente Fox says maybe it's time to consider a truce with drug traffickers and even an amnesty for them as a way to stop violence in Mexico.
Fox says authorities "at the highest level" should also consider legalizing drugs.

IMHO, Fox was (and is) a puppet for the cartels.

He just wants his cash flow to keep comming.

no, because export will still be illegal and thats what they are fighting about: who controlls the border...they are not fighting against the police, they are fighting each other (and the police is just in the middle)...sure some drug related violence (like kiling lawyers) will be reduced but the violence in general will not stop...
the violence is only in the border region a real problem...the rest of mexico is fine

When the death count is approaching 40,000 people in just over 5 years of war, this isn't a criminal matter or just internal fighting between cartels for turf. This is a full blown, no holds barred war down there. Look at the numbers and think about this. They're pushing 40,000 dead right now. After 10 years of brutal, bloody and NONSTOP combat operations, the U.S. lost just over 58,000 in Vietnam. At the rate Mexico is going, by their 10 year mark, they will have surpassed total U.S. losses in that war by an enormous margin.

mexico needs to take the fight to the people that are growing and producing coc aine. as for the ex president he is an idot and that is why he is the ex president. that idot keeps forgetting his country produces black tar herion and marijuana. they want to the us for their problem instead of taking the fight to the countries that produce the product. until they go after the producers,they are going have alot of people dying in mexico.
