Parliament nod to 3 demands, Anna will taste more than water today

In what is being viewed as a thumping victory for Indian democracy, the government on Saturday agreed to bring the Jan Lokpal Bill under the purview of the government's draft of the Lokpal Bill by including anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare's demands for which he has been fasting for 12 days at the Ramlila Grounds in New Delhi. The news of the government's decision led to large-scale celebrations through the country.

I'm amazed this hasn't been posted yet. Oh well...
Today marks the victory of the people. It shows how one man can steamroll a government into accepting a stricter anticorruption bill.
It also shows the pent up anger of the Indian people.
But how is it a lesson to the american people? Simple.
Can you do this?
Yes you can.

Let us remind ourselves that the police and the military men and people like you. They have families too. Give them a reason to join you and you'll be free again. Best of Luck out there. Peace.

Amazing.
Anna Hazare's campaign against corruption worked because most Indians are aware of the levels of corruption in the government. The common Indian citizen stood by him, and did not stop till the government took notice....and more importantly took the cause seriously. They have seemed to have realise that they cant just continue to walk over people and ignore what the people want.
This anti-corruption movement truly transcended political parties and religion (plenty of them in India BTW) and got people from all states in India to join in the campaign.
The best part? No rioting. No violence. Nothing. This movement by the people was not even opposed by any major political powers.

This is surely an interesting development, and I will follow this story in the days to come.

I like the way that Indian can get major things done via non violent means ,

Americans could not do this as they dont have any rich culture of saintly persons to lead them .

India is actually undergoing a revival of Hinduism due to the fact , it seemms ,, that its very ancient way of worship is under attack from so many forces within the Indian government .

I hope they can clean up their officials because corruption is in your face their and it makes it extremely hard on everyone . There big politicians are like major gang leaders or dacoits . Such a shame for a thriving democrazy .

Nothing like this will happen in America.

Americans, if they can still afford cable, are too concerned with Mike the Situation acting like a coked out jackass to even care for one second that their country is being robbed and raped by corrupt politicos.

Anti corruption will come after bloodshed.

If you tried that in America wouldn't they deem you a threat to yourself (mentally unstable), hospitalize you...feed you with a pipe....then boot your rear out and hand you a $100,000 Medical Bill?

India needs to come and study how to put the boot down more effectively from us.

Although the above posters all have good reasons why this will never happen in america, lets get to the heart of the matter:

In the USA, we're well fed enough that if you went on a hunger strike, by the time your life was in danger you'd already be old news.

I like the idea of having a bill specifically designed to investigate the government, that way the government can not use it against the people. This bill seems like a good idea in theory so let's hope they make the most of it.

I wouldn't put it that way in the least. There is no need for bloodshed. What is needed when things get rough, as they will soon, and whatever it seems on the surface, it will not be an act of terrorism, nor a cosmic event, it will be the controllers doing things by intent. And they're going to shut off the food redistribution by some events, possibly power too.

We need to get it together, no bloodshed, not even to them. Love, ask for them now, to repent and turn around on the road they're traveling into the abyss, and instead, put all their money and knowledge at the feet of the people and repent from all the harm and murdres, wars and starvation they have pulled off.

We need to stock up some food, and get some generators. Or, tools and blueprints, and organize locally if anything happens to get people:

1. sharing all they have with each other.
2. get mechanics and able bodied to get the generators going, wind, sun, HHO gas, ones, ie water, and salt water generators and batteries.
3. group up and demand that the leaders, who are hired paid employees of the people with all the best experts at their fingertips, DO THEIR JOB AND SERVE THE PEOPLE, REDISTRIBUTE ALL GOODS AND SERVICES AND HELP.

Period.

Peacefully, with compassion.

No bloodshed, ever.

one of the main #ed-up things in america, is the fact that nobody polices the government...too many people are brainwashed by the media into believing that our government is doing everything they can to take care of its' citizens, and to protect them from harm...what a crock of #...the time is near, when the american government needs to be brought to its' knees, and serious changes need to be made.....revolution is coming...and nobody will be able to stop it...not even the military

This is excellent news

If the rest of the world began to follow this trend, i feel that this
is where the Gov't would create a Fake Alien Intervention, as they
have already openly stated via CNN on another thread here. They
are beginning to seriously Fear the People now. This is a Major
Awakening for the rest of the Planet too.

Where is the root of evil? Why is it that you can change politicians but sooner or later they always become corrupt? Its like unprotected metal left in the enviroment to decay.

"Allow me to control the flow of money and I care not who makes the laws" --Mayer Amshel Rothschild

So if private central banks issue the currency to commercial banks at the prime rate and business borrows from those commercial banks to sustain itself and hopefully make profit, then business pays capital gains tax to the government and the employees of the business pay income tax on their earnings, THAT is how the government collects funds.

When it needs to borrow money it issues treasury bonds and investors, either individuals or corporate banks buy them to collect interest on their investment. It is estimated that at least 40% of the treasury bonds belong to banks and investment companies. The big commercial banks have a stake in the private FED in america, the ECB in europe and other private central banks. All of this to supposedly keep down on inflation and make both the goverment and people responsible to each other. While this may be true to a degree, I think it puts excessive pressure on society to share its wealth rather than to keep the spoils of your labor. Why can't the government print and issue its own money and pay for its own expenses without inflation? Why are hundreds of world currencies not "reserve currencies" and thus have a difficult time importing and exporting goods and services?

When money belongs to the bankers it probably means they can bribe any politician to do as they please, thus you take out a few crooks and then more are immediately replaced. Its not the politicians fault, its a fatal flaw in the system itself and almost everyone is totally oblivious to economics. The economics talked about on CSPAN and CNN is for mainstream consumption and does not address the core principles. I bet even business graduates with masters and doctorate degrees don't understand how economics truely work or if they do they keep "the secret" to themselves.

Example: Gadafhi is gone from libya and the muslim brotherhood takes over. If they have most of the common vote they will stay in power and the military will support them, BUT if they piss of the bankers and can't borrow money then it will become another somalia because imports and exports will cease and they will be totally unable to sustain themselves. "biting the hand that feeds you".

Sooner or later we need to get rid of private central banking and nationalise the money supply. Most people hate sharing "there" money with the government and then the government sharing it back with the bankers in the form of interest and personal favors. This is true socialism, NOT the european "welfare state" that borrows and spends!

The Indian people know what an empty belly is and they are not that far from feeling the boot of opression on their necks.

Americans are too darn Fat, Lazy and Dumb to even pay attention to the Corporate Ag Cartel stealing control of their food supplyeven when theh farmfolk activists were screaming in their faces.

That is alright. When the store shelves are empty and food prices are sky high they will turn around and blame those darn gun toting Neanderthal rednecks..... The same ones who have been crying for help for decades.

In India it has taken countless farmer suicides to get attention as well as many activists. I am very happy to hear this Anti-corruption bill made it. Now if it only works.

The People of India need all the help they can get with the Mega-corporations and Banks targeting them.

The reason it won't happen in America is because the level of corruption of the two nations aren't even remotely comparable.
