Amid fears of violence, the UK government has placed a blanket ban on street marches in London.
The Home Office has announced the ban will be in place form September 2 for 30 days and will cover five London boroughs: Tower Hamlets, Newham, Hackney, Islington and Waltham Forest; and the City of London.
A top Malaysian police official said Britain's riots vindicate the south-east Asian nation's efforts to curb street protests because they can turn into "nightmares".

Can you change the title off your thread. It is not the whole of Britain which is under this protest ban. It only refers to protests in England.

However, in order to stop a bunch of racist thugs holding a march in part of London, a temporary ban has been placed in 5 boroughs.

So. Britain HAS NOT placed a blanket ban on street protests.
Not Britain. Not England. Not even London!

That's great! It's about time. The police are there to protect the people. Screw the rights of the gheto/welfare collectors! The most work they did in their lives was to loot and burn their own neighborhoods. People that feed off of society shouldn't have the same rights as the people providing everything for them! Like it or not thats it!

Next will be a curfew, then demonstrations will be banned totally. If it were Scotland there would be a deliberate marched demonstration against the banning of marched demonstrations...its who we are.
Anti-racism groups are mobilising a major counter-protest after the right-wing Scottish Defence League vowed to go ahead with a demonstration in Scotland's capital despite it being banned by the city council.
Councillors threw out the group's application last week, claiming they were worried about risking disorder and violent confrontations, despite police saying they had "no objections" to the march.
