First of all, SHUT off FOX news!
The Hurricane has been downgraded from a category 3 to a 1 which is wonderful for those who are in its path. When a Hurricane is coming towards your
area you can't necessarily predict if it will downgrade like Irene has done.
Areas were evacuated to prevent the devastation and flooding that was seen in Katrina. However although Katrina did a lot of damage in Mississippi, I
think people are forgetting that it wasn't the storm itself that caused so much damage in New Orleans, but that the levee system itself failed.
It takes quite an amount of time to safely evacuate an area and once evacuated it doesn't make sense to allow people to return home until the storm
has completely passed. Even with a tropical storm there can be high gusts of winds. I consider any storm death to be bad; so far there have been 8
from Irene on the east coast. That is with evacuations and all the warnings people have had. I don't see any conspiracy involved in trying to keep
people safe and prevent what could have been a catastrophic event had the storm not downgraded.
