Auckland, New Zealand at 05:55 PM, August 27th. It's like a comet in the sky, but there are two wings and many colors. Can it be related to the Meteorite who fallen in Peru these last days ?

So here we go, I would want your opinions on this.
The title is mentionning Elenin, but I really don't know if it can be so close to us.

Video of the "UFO" :

Picture of a thing that could be Elenin now visible :

Interesting explanation Chadwickus
Can you link to any other examples of similar sunlit contrails please?
Have to say this is like nothing I have ever seen before.

No matter what it is (I am open to any rational supported interpretations) It is quite beautiful, in a cautionary kind of way. Like a polar bear is beautiful, but could snap you like a twig.
Thanks for the intriguing post OP.

contrails are not always just one straight white line in the sky. the peru "meteor" was definitely a contrail. looking at OPs video now.

Some examples of similar occurrences...with sunlit contrails:

Short Sunlit Contrails Look Like UFOs

Misidentifying these sunlit contrails seems to be a regular issue, they often get called meteors, comets UFO's etc etc...

More sunlit contrails (misidentified):

This is a (bright) comet:

They move very slowly through the sky, the one above is a time lapse taken over 4.3 hours.

And these are meteors:

These are fast moving and very bright.

So I'll let you guys decide for yourselves, but if you still think what I'm calling a sunlit contrail is something else then I have a simple challenge for you...

Find me a photo or video of what I'm calling a sunlit contrail that isn't taken at sunset or sunrise.

I'd give you a dozen stars for that if I could. People will still believe whatever they want to believe though, even after such a thorough dissection of the subject.

Thanks for those answers. So similar events have happened.

This one is actually easier to see as it is a small contrail at some distance and moving away.
Note that the videoman himself says it's "almost in the same place" or similar, and there is no illusion of something coming crashing downward as is often the case in these contrail effects when in zoom.

First one: Might be a sunlit fuel dump from a jet-- leave these really need rainbow colored smears in the sky when the sun is low or just set. Some jet in trouble a few years ago dumped fuel before coming in for emergency landing and left something very much like that in the sky-- local news did a report on it.

Second one-- a labeled picture of nothing.

Third one-- Really neat meteor.
