I love to hear points of view from folks from former empires. Ron Paul shares the exact viewpoint of a non imperial American. Let's give up the bases, the wars, and the outside influences and focus on our own success, working with other countries for mutual benefit

So it was confusing to her to see we live quite comfortably and with a nice life in France, far from what her compatriots had told her.

Her compatriots must be republicans.

Get it right, we are not all stupid. Some of us are greedy fat hicks who will stop at nothing to take over the world. Just speaking for myself though.

I apologize, what I should've said was: The U.S.A, the most technologically advanced, obese country in the world, which is totally backward in terms of social issues and has megalomaniacs at the top of the food chain

edit on 27-8-2011 by Zcustosmorum because: (no reason given)

Advanced tech wise?.....beyond most people concepts. Obese....usually the poor...as a complete reversal to other countries as people low income tend to eat processed foods that add pounds very quickly.

STUPID? Just the people who would rather Bitch than actually do something about it. I travel extensively and been just about everywhere. After staying in any one country for awhile...when I get back to the U.S.....I thank my lucky stars. People just have no idea how good we have it or how much opportunity exists here as apposed to other countries.

After spending much time in Europe....an area of the globe that self professes enlightenment on social issues....a person starts to see where a large rift exists between the poor and the rich. Even worse....this rift is ancient....originating from a once Fuedal system where aristocratic tendencies of some is very overt.

Say what you want about the U.S....and we do have issues...after you spend time else where....you want to get back here ASAP. Split Infinity

I understand that, home is where the heart is but my point wasn't on other countries, there is no other society quite like America and for being such a technological nation it's difficult to understand the gap, it's like the people with all the cash and power don't give a damn or something

oh, Feudalism huh.

Well all I can say is right now we need our constitutional republic back in order to get the money out of politics, and to get the propaganda machine in Washington unfunded, so they can employ less people to get on these Internets to spout garbage, and take advantage of many people's lack of critical thinking skills. (which federal policies created) What even makes it worse, is people actually believe there is a better candidate than Ron Paul to fix this mess.

I think people live quite comfortably in different circumstances throughout the world. Guess what? Some live under capitalist circumstances. Some live under somewhat socialist circumstances. Some who are just fine live under circumstances many of us would find offensive. And that is the problem? People are offended that someone dare be happy under a system that they were taught to disagree with. People are frickin people. Aint much diff when you get down to it. We're just apes with math and guns.

I suppose we are in a a great nation that supports freedom of speech, but your continued degradation of our great American icon Bill Hicks is a bit disrespectful of him. You can continue to do it, but please be advised that karma is a b.
Peace.
Thanks

Everytime we make the mistake of working with another country on equal footing or negociating as if the U.S. is of an equivalent level of influence or worth...as any other country....is when debacles such as NAFTA get passed. How has that worked out for us as jobs and companies abandon ship for workers in the third world get paid 20 cents an hour doing assembly line work?

The U.S. should NEVER negociate or draft laws or treaties based on an all is equal concept. Europe had it's chance....TWICE....and we ended up fighting two world wars and fighting a cold war that had us spending massive amounts of money....and still to this day....sending foreign aid to some.

The current economic problems are of our own making and since the majority of world commerce is based upon how the American consumer buys....if we go down....so does everyone else. The really sad thing is that behind every huge U.S. recovery and long term economic growth period....is a creation of a new market which is almost always driven by an American created item or concept or product.

Examples....the assembly line created automobile....the T.V.....the VCR....the Cotton Gin....the personal Computer. But now we need our rediculously technologically advanced military to release a tech that is needed now! In this case....Advanced Solar Energy cells.....or Micro-Fusion generators.

We have had and been testing Fusion reactors for decades! We need leadership that can make the tough choices to release one of the Pentagons...BABIES....NOW! We need it....so does the enviroment. Split Infinity

I don't stand to agree with the OPs original points, but the idea of the world being more and more insane definitely stands valid. I think the Western world has been preoccupied with materialism, and lead to the #ter by the elite. We are in the middle of a double dip in on3 of the worst recessions, and most people don't seem to be able to connect the dots, even then..

Meanwhile, the globe is getting hotter (for whatever reason) and more natural disasters are expected to occur. Good timing, eh?

Personally, as a young man in university, it is very demotivating to memorize business books, when a) you know the system is flawed and b) you don't know where the world will stand in a couple of years and you could be doing something better, possibly.

I agree....I am wealthy and do not pay nearly enough taxes...because of the number of legal deductions and loopholes. But higher taxes on the wealthy are not enough to solve the problem. Spending is OUT OF CONTROL and this current administration has done NOTHING to help the sector of buisness that provides OVER 80% of all JOBS IN THE UNITED STATES.....SMALL BUISNESS!

Without rejuvinating small buisnesses of Main Street USA.....there can be no recovery. But if you are an employee of the Feds or States....OH BOY! HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN! My mail carrier makes $115,000 a year doing a job that a 10 year old could do.....and where I live...there are people just handing out tickets for the turnpike authority to cars entering...thats it! Just handing people a ticket......they are making $90,000 a year plus benifits and get 90% of their pay upon retirement for the rest of their life....doing a job a machine could do. Split Infinity

I'm his avatar, b--ch.

When someone with a lack of intelligence has nothing to say, they resort to petty name calling.

Have you ever seen BH, dude? All he does is name call phonies.

Obviously I understand Hicks more than you ever will and there was so much more to Hicks than name calling, go watch/listen to all his stuff, you might learn some things

Additionally, he wasn't a patriot and would probably die laughing to know that his death made him an American icon.

I don't know where you visited exactly, but many Western European nations have a much bigger middle class than in the states. Far lower illiteracy, inequality, better education (in terms of basic education, not necessarily higher), better healthcare and far less genetically modified anything. Overall, whenever I'm travel around Europe, I do feel that I'm amongst generally more educated and/or more intellectual people than in the US. Europe is getting very orientated with materialism and gossip, and are starting to understand less and less about politics, during a time when they should be learning more about it. Moving form Finland to the UK, I saw a huge differences. And if there is some place where the aristocratic class system and inequality can be seen in W.E, it is definitely here.

However, the US has many great cities and states and some of the most brilliant and educated people there too. I love visiting there, and especially D.C, Cali and NYC. I just think that the inequality there is evermore increasing and that the FED is one scary ass mother #er. I truly hope the US can change its course to become once again a true powerhouse, and I could potentially move back there.

If you dont get that statement, you dont get BH, bro, sorry. Pretty effin hilarious. Hey, you want to go ahead and think you're a BH guy, go head, brother. I mean, your not, but in the end it really dont matter one way or the other.
And please chill with the smiley faces and hands. Your killin yourself. (WhIch will help you achieve immortality, so disregard my last remark... or not, b--ch)
And , wow, if you don't understand why BH is one of the greatest American icons, you definitely have NO understanding of the man himself.
