If anything happens, . North, not South. Don't try to go over the Mountains unless advised to.....

Obviously, get away from the water. A mile or two inland should be good enough. If I have your area right...it would be best to go for HWY 9 North....you now the one??? Up through Arlington and then my way. You can to candada that route without getting too close to the ocean and better chance of not being bogged down in traffic.

This is assuming roads are passable. Do you know where the Skagit Valley Casino is? Look it up. My local DEM (department of Emergency management) has it as a command center due to its being high enough above sea level...it also has hotels...huge parking lots...several thousands gallons of propane so is self-contained. There will be tents and medical aid/supplies there. (I used to work medical/security for the casino so am privy to this stuff)

This is all just in case, ofcourse. Good info to have either way.

Yeah, that's more than a little disconcerting.

I'm here in Nashville, TN, so I'm hoping the NMZ doesn't go. Not sure how safe I am here... couple hundred miles away, but this area has lots of bedrock, so the quake would travel far. I live near Percy Priest Lake, too.

And the real worry for me.... my parents live in Wildwood, MO (30-45mi south of STL) and their house is built into the side of a big hill with about 45 degrees of slope. Bout 100-200 feet to the bottom of the hill, and they live in the middle of nowhere. If a big NMZ shaker pops up, I'm afraid they are screwed.

Warnings and cautionary statements from me doesn't work on them. Tried. They think I'm just a "misguided conspiracy nut" that believes all that "crap on the internet".
They are VERY conservative Southern Baptist evangelicals... so you know how hard it is to convince them of anything other than "what they know." No chance of changing their world view.

I think it is a little bit odd that TM just posted this 4.2 from this morning, considering he already made a post earlier today and just said nothing much came out of the MB yesterday and that zworld was on the closest track. SInce he did not refer to the 4.2 in that first post, I assumed he figured we all had already put 2 and
2 together with the projected foreshock and this quake. Now he posts about it?

Could be nothing, just odd to me, but it did happen as he said it should.

Dang, back to work.

Edit to add- Could TM be in another time zone, like Russia? Isn't the M8 algorithm a project out of russia? Just thinking outside the box here.

I started looking for any type of FEMA or National Guard activity out west. So far all I have found is this:

• SEPTEMBER 23, 2011: Utah ShakeOut Mid Planning Conference •

• SEPTEMBER 28, 2011: Catastrophic Mutual Aid Plan Validation TTX

This is Utah though. I'll keep looking.

Comet Elenin is at the elliptic either today or tomorrow, could that cause any excess stress on faults?

Well....it's National Preparedness Month in California. Seminars being held at the end of the month in Sacramento. Thisjust sounds like run of the mill classes rather than a FEMA" exercise":

Safety Center supports National Preparedness Month by hosting a unique emergency preparedness experience in Sacramento on September 28-30, 2011. National Preparedness Month focuses on inspiring individuals, families, businesses and organizations to take meaningful action to make themselves and their communities more prepared

link community.fema.gov...

ETA: this also from the Sacramento Press...again, pretty routine

The City and County of Sacramento remind Sacramento residents to take time this month to prepare for emergency situations including extreme winter and summer weather and flooding.

Hey I am in Nashville also, I say we have an Earthquake Party! I am hoping that we are far enough away that not much damage will hit us.

Ah, who knows anymore! I just think we are in for turbulent times. I just reread TM's last post. I will try to put aside that he just brought up the 4.2, and focus on what he said.

Just a quick update, literally have to log off ASAP, but time is of the essence here. This is what was forecast yesterday, foreshock within 72 to 96 hours

If you feel like trusting him then him reiterating that time is of the essence and having to log off ASAP should be taken seriously.

I hope no one is doubting me any longer. More to come.
Although he said he would not take credit for his projections, and kind of is here, I am willing to go a little longer in trusting him and assume he is just trying to drive a point home and that is BE Ready.

Who knows, I always thought straight-line alignments between 3 or more large objects is what usually causes quakes like that. Not so sure that just crossing the elliptic would do anything, since we aren't really aligned. Then again, the mass of Elenin is in contention still, so really...who knows.

Interesting side note though: Since Elenin is crossing the elliptic (and nearly right on top of us now), we should soon be able to see it from the Northern Hemisphere. Gotta squint reall hard though, as it will be on the daylight side of Earth.

Seems there are a few of us here in Nashville. I'm totally down with a meetup of ATSers. Would be nice to know that, when the internet goes down, I know of a few local, like-minded folks that already know what's going on.

Know that I'm watching this thread and trying my best not to mislead anyone, however the people who have focused on "M8" being a seismic measurement are correct. So Cal. The ground is already moving as well. Best wishes for all of us in So Cal. I wish I could part with more info, but I'm sorry, I can't. Be prepared and stay alert. The swarm has already begun. We all knew this would happen....

He/She says "for all of us in So Cal" So I take that to mean that this person is also there. Is there an Earthquake research center at Southern Cal University?

Well, I guess NATIONAL Preparedness Month implies the whole country is preparing. Found this for Washington State:

Calendar Events from 19 September 2011 - 25 September 2011 Mon 19

"State EQ Drill
Description Statewide Drop, Cover, & Hold exercise - message sent through EAS system
Date Wednesday September 21st 2011
Start Time 10:15
Duration 5 minutes
Number of Participants 20000

Tsunami Siren Test (Coastal Communities)
Description The tsunami sirens along Washington State's coastal areas will broadcast test messages. The sirens will sound for 3 minutes and include an audible message.
Date Wednesday September 21st 2011
Start Time 10:15
Duration 10 minutes
Number of Participants 50000 "

Again, seems very routine, but I am surprised at the amount of participants. Sorry if it seems I am fearmongering. It's not my intention.

Weird you post this, I just ran across the whole "188 days hypothesis" and frankly, it really creeps me out too...

Tomorrow will tell, if not, then 9/26-9/27 is definitely a time period to worry about.

I didn't want to resort to this but I remembered a thread about military vehicles being shipped by train into Oregon. Who knows if the West Coast was their destination or if they were actually returning from somewhere back to their original bases. The thread had alot of bickering back and forth and I lost interest. Just another idea...I'll refrain from this line of thought unless I find something extremely interesting.

Let me add fuel to the fire.
I have been checking out this site for the last couple of days,it's ABC 7 out of L.A.
Today, they started with this being prepared campaign on their earthquake page.
Here is a link to that and the ATS link associated with it.

abclocal.go.com.../earthquake_center&id=7100535

abclocal.go.com...

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Now,if it's earthquake preparedness month or what ever, why start on the 14th of the month instead of the 1st?
But,maybe I'm wrong and overlooked it.

Ok using ssd.jpl.nasa.gov...

I found that elenin crossed the elliptic on mar 9-10th. Japan quake
Sept 4th for Christchurch it was almost at the elliptic and I cant tell for the Chile quake. I think it's quite peculiar indeed.
