I am useing Clearwire plug in modem
Its speed is erradic even with 4 bars signal showing
I have taken several different speed tests and all are different results
my speed varies from .25kbps to 1mbps download
My computer is homebuilt..2gb Ram..pentium 4 prossesor and 250 gb hard virises junk cookies
Why is Clear wire so erratic ? Have to unplug it for 8 hours to get the speed back..just to watch a movie !

that sounds about on par for their horrific scam of a service.

You are most likely being throttled.

Clearlink = baaaad.

It's called bandwidth and all of your fellow users are sharing it.

Your data is packetized and sent down the wire and only so many packets will fit at a time. This is nature of bandwidth.

If you have alot of traffic on the same ISP you will all have to share the available bandwidth meaning less slots for your data to use.

The ISP attempts to balance this by throttling some customers in order to provide bandwidth to other users.

See if this occurs during non business hours as well. You should see an increase in speed during the evening and late night hours when there are fewer users sharing the bandwidth.
