PLEASE EXCUSE ANY MIS-SPELLINGS-TYPOS ETC... Thanks

I have had this for years.First everyone thought I was crazy trying to explain exactly what I was experiencing.
To start with ,it started out as a bright flash out of the corner of my right eye, bottom right.
For anyone that has not had this ,you would not understand.
Anyway,I went to the eye doctor and he said ,there doesn't appear to be anything wrong, but documented it anyway.
A few months went by,and then the flash not only appeared but moved back and forth ,then dissappeared.went to the eye doctor and nothing,so one morning I woke up blind (lasted a few minutes) and went to the eye doctor and he said there might be something after all, anyway he explains it as cappiliries exploded so he sends me to all these specialist and no one can tell me why this happens, but one doc said she would do laser on it to stop the bleed,so she fires up the laser and could not find no way of keeping my eyelid open with clamps so she said she would just wing it(believe me this is not made up I have all the documation for everything I write)so she proceeds to tell me to hold my eye open while she uses a laser to seal up the bleeds, and let me tell you that hurt like H***,anyway she got through and she said that ought to do it and that I should rest for a couple of days, well that was the least of my worries because I was 100 miles from home and I was driving (but I did not tell them that)I did however get home and my eye was throbbing like a( headache or toothache) whichever you prefer? I went to sleep that night and had some strange dreams, anyway that is a pain I wish I did not know nothing about. After a couple of days the pain in my eye quit but I got to thinking if she sealed up one blood vessel would there be a chance that it would send the blood to another one and explode it? This is the way to think about it:if there was a stream in a river and you dam it up then it will find away to go around it,and wouldn't you know it about two weeks later the ball of light was back and this time it was all kind of colors, and so I went to the doc and he was going to send me back to the wing-it doc ,but I said different doc please,so he sent me to a different doc but this doc wanted to do the same thing,so I told him about my dam theory and he said no need to worry ,I'll fix it good, and I am thinking Oh H*** this is gonna hurt, and you know what it did.But on the plus side atleast he tightened my head in a vise so that it would not move untill he got through torturing me with the laser, and yes hurt like H***.Any way ,he said that would do it,but you know what a couple of weeks later, the flash was back with more friends different color orbs(as I call them),I am not going back to the doctor unless I go blind again ,and I am about there.
But don't let my story scare you,it may just be me?
Seriously, you need to get it checked and see your options, maybe something else can be done by now, since that has been probably 7+ years for me.For this left untreated (could) bleed back into your brain?
And good luck with them telling you what caused it,because they have not got a clue.I have been to so many specialist that I lost count along time ago,I have been thoroughly checked for everything in the book,I have been observed and I have even met with teams of specialist that even flew their own specialist in to have a look at me,but they could not figure it out so they basically gave up.I left out most of the actually visits that I made because this would be too long(probably about 10 times longer than it is now).
So if you decide to go to the eye doc and they give you a reason for this just let me know.
My whole life is about stuff that doesn't make sence,so maybe I will tell more on this site and maybe I won't.
Real Life is stranger than fiction anyway.

Once while driving through corpus christi on vacation in the wee hours of the morning, a bright flash of light occurred, seeming to fill the car with white. I asked my mother and girlfriend if theyd seen it, and they had. We could find no reasonable explanation. Recently i asked if they had remembered it... Neither of them did.

I am currently living in a very haunted house. Along with the expected fleeting shadows, orbs, and other run of the mill paranormal phenomena occurring, occasional bright flashes similar to what the op describes are a component of this haunting I had not heard of before but am definitely experiencing.

That being said, the op is right in seeking prosaic explanations first.

I can relate and simpathize with your situation. It is the not knowing that makes everything worse.

However, I can not tell you an answer as to why it happens. I can only reply that you are not alone.

Several times over the years I have "seen" a tiny golden spark of light flash and be gone. I have never known what caused them, but they don't seem to cause any real problems. Atleast not yet.

I don't know what it is, but I have been having this same thing happen to me. It is so noticable that I have actually checked the weather when I have seen it. It feels like something just passed or happened and I barely missed it. I almost made my own post to see if I could get answers.

What are you doing at the time you've seen these flashes of light. I know the saying *seeing stars* actually does hold true occasionally. If I am really working hard, or really really hot I start to feel a little bad and I'll *see stars* until I take a seat for a bit.

It's a really odd and surreal feeling.

Something else to consider, for those of you experiencing flashes indoors, is the new energy saver cfl bulbs.
I have these all over my house, and a couple tend to flash brightly every so often.
I'm not sure if this is because they are getting old or what..maybe it's the gases in the bulbs reacting to something else in the room, I don't know for sure.

As mentioned before, photopsia can account for many of the "only for a split second" pinpoint of light, crescented or spherical flashes of light in extreme cases. (However, if these last for any length of time, they will track with the movement of the eye.)

Iv'e no doubts about the paranormal tho.
I have seen full bodied apparitions of people. They can drop instantly into the floor/wall.

Orbs are a real thing to, and (I know this sounds like photopsia, but it isn't) pencil thick streaks of light.

Looks like a penlight, but Iv'e seen it draw shapes in the blink of an eye. One was a door shaped rectangle that was then filled in with the pen light in a scribble fashion.
This appeared on the wall next to me for a split second; not quite in direct sight, but not all the way into the side of my vision either.

(I used to get migrains, and have retnal seperation, so I am very familiar with the effects of photopsia.)

Iv'e seen several shadow orbs, and they range in size from marble size to the largest which was about a foot or two in diameter. It was actually more of an oval shape.

These are not floaters in the eye.
These things do not track with your eye movement. They move of thier own accord, and I have to track them.

Iv'e only seen a light orb once.
It appeared on the shelf of a bookcase in my room one night.

The room was dark, and this orb was quite bright for its size.
(about golf ball size. A white light with blue in it.)
It moved across the shelf, and passed through some books on the other end. The light dimmed out as it passed through each book, then returned to full strength as it reached the other side of the book. It passed through about 4 books this way, then disappeared...

It was a few minutes after the light orb that I saw the penlight shapes. Three of them...
The first I didnt notice any particular shape to. The second pin light was shaped like an x and the third was very noticably a rectangle filled in.

I forgot to mention that this occured the night after the evening I saw a four foot hooded shadow being in the same bedroom, so I think they are very much related...

To be honest when I saw this thread, I thought THUNDER..I guess I was wrong but what I'v seen is little blue orbs going through doors etc it might just be a optical illusion.

My apologies for bumping an old thread however I found this whilst googling for a strange problem I have been experiencing for years and thought I would share and add to this mystery that others also appear to be having. This is a lengthy post, as there is a lot of information to give, so my apologies in advance and thank you for reading.

It all started about 6 years ago:

It was a weekend, a fairly normal and happy day despite the weather being overcast. I was sat at my kitchen table catching up on some work and my then partner was at the sink cleaning the dishes. Suddenly we both saw a flash of light and heard a *pop* sound. From my perspective it appeared to come from across the kitchen nearby one of the wall sockets however when I checked with my partner (just to make sure I wasn't seeing things) she described it as being more towards where I was sat at the table. Being an engineer my inquitive nature led me to check the electrics in the kitchen all of which checked out ok, the fuses were brand new and I have fitted surge protectors on my mainboard (due to the nature of some of the machinery I have setup in my workshop). Having exhausted my search for a rational explanation I shrugged it off as one of those "freak occurances" and thought no more of it.

About a year or so later it happened again. This time one of my long term contractors, and close friend, was helping me out with a pet project in my workshop, although neither of us were taking it too seriously that day. We had a couple of beers and were primarily watching the football (soccer) on the TV whilst occasionally testing a few circuit designs on breadboards. My workshop is fairly small, compared to other rooms in the house, with only one window and the blind was closed as glare from the sun outside was hitting the TV screen. Suddenly a small flash appeared to the left of the TV which made both of us jump. After looking at each other for a moment, trying to fathom exactly what happened we both laughed, shrugged it off and made a joke comment about "ghosties trying to steal our designs".

Nothing happened again, since then.... that is until last week.

My wife and I (whom I have been with for just over 3 years and married since Oct 2011) were going through my tax returns, again sat at the kitchen table. It was dark outside, and having just finished a long day I was not in the best of moods. My wife stood up to go make a coffee when a small flash of light appeared directly between us both. It startled her so much she stumbled backwards nearly falling over her chair. This concerned me more than the actual flash as she is currently 36 wks pregnant and a fall is the last thing she needs. After making sure she was ok my mind immediately flashed back to the last time I experienced this. I discussed the past experiences with my wife who looked at me with the usual disbelief anyone would, however she confirmed that she saw 'something' in mid-air. The experience unsettled us both and we spent the rest of the evening feeling quite uneasy about the experience although neither of us discussed it any further.

Finally, yesterday (and what prompted me to search for some kind of answer), my wife and son were sat in the living room/lounge. It was evening and my son (who is nearly 10) was glued to the xbox whilst my wife and I were discussing the coming weekend's plans for family visits, etc. I stood to go towards the kitchen and turned to ask my wife if she wanted a coffee when suddenly a flash of light (no sound) appeared in the middle of the room. All three of us saw it and it even startled my son enough for him to break his neverending gaze of the xbox. He had an unnerved expression on his face and my wife looked at me with that knowing look that something wasn't quite right. The following is a truncated version of the conversation which unnerved me somewhat:

Son: "Dad, why does that flash keep happening? What is it?"
Me: "What do you mean?"
Son: "Well, yesterday when I was having a bath I saw it in the bathroom. And I keep seeing flashes in my room at night"

I did my best to console him, and my wife, and offered an explanation of "static discharge" to satify their cautious curiosity however all three of us still have our doubts. I am at a loss as to how to explain this scientifically. If it was just myself seeing this then I would conceed that it was perhaps a hallucination of sorts, perhaps damage to my vision however, to-date: my wife, my ex-partner, my son, my collegue and myself have all witnessed this strange apparition.

I am not ready to jump to the conclusion of a spirit or ghost, as my rational mind needs more evidence to believe in such things, however I have exhaused all diagnostics and theories. However if there is a possibility that this is sentient in someway should I be concerned? Any help or fresh ideas is greatly appreciated.

I would suggest taking pictures with a decent digital camera all over your house, especially at night. You may be surprised what (or who) turns up.

Good luck.

My daughter, myself and my husband used to see these very quick bright flashes of lights last year when we lived in another town. It was in my search for answers that I stumbled on ATS for the first time. There is an older thread about it, but no answers.
