From what I am hearing my friends kidneys are at a 25% functioning level. So I started to wonder if there are an effective combinations of herbs that I can easily get? I was going through some websites but honestly I am not a professional at this.

I am sure some spiritual Herbiest will help me out here, although information is scarce online when it comes to this topic and honestly I am trying to find the best herbs.

There is some calcification in her kidneys. It is a combination of calcification and something else, I believe. That is all the info I got.

Thank you all

My husband got his blood test results back and is being advised to go see a kidney specialist...He's trying to get loaded back home. I'm interested in knowing as well.

Your best bet is to rely on the actual doctors and not give your hopes into some whacky herbs and shaman remedies, they won't work.

Well, doctors are working at it, but the thing is, is that lack of money for surgery and drastic surgery such as replacement is scary.

But anyways, she is seeing a doctor, nothing else, but things are slow when you are broke

I came here for advice, not finger pointing to a doctor office

I am so sorry to hear that, your friend will be in my prayers tonight.

Currently my kidneys appear to be heading the same way. I guess I drank myself out when I was younger; I have already suffered 5 kidney stones and I'm 20. They say I have atleast 8 stones in each kidney currently. I haven't had too much trouble with them recently but I know the tremendous uncomparable pain that I went through, I can't even imagine what your friend has gone through, and is going through. Best of luck and I will keep my eye on this thread.

I have compiled a list of herbal remedies and this just happens to be one I remembered. I will look for more, but this is the first one that I found relating directly to kidneys. The other one that I have is apple cider vinegar, but it doesn't say kidney function in the list, but overall urinary health. Hope this helps.

Dandelion Overview: While many people think of the common dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) as a pesky weed, herbalists consider it a valuable herb with many culinary and medicinal uses. Dandelion is a rich source of vitamins A, B complex, C, and D, as well as minerals such as iron, potassium, and zinc. Its leaves are often used to add flavor to salads, sandwiches, and teas. The roots can be found in some coffee substitutes, and the flowers are used to make certain wines. In traditional medicine, dandelion roots and leaves were used to treat liver problems. Native Americans also used dandelion decoctions (liquid made by boiling down the herb in water) to treat kidney disease, swelling, skin problems, heartburn, and stomach upset. Chinese medicinal practitioners traditionally used dandelion to treat digestive disorders, appendicitis, and breast problems (such as inflammation or lack of milk flow). In Europe, herbalists incorporated it into remedies for fever, boils, eye problems, diabetes, and diarrhea. Today, dandelion roots are mainly used as an appetite stimulant, digestive aid, and for liver and gallbladder function. Dandelion leaves are used as a diuretic to stimulate the excretion of urine.

ETA: I just consulted my book of natural medicine, and it says for overall kidney health Aloe Vera, Cranberry Juice are both very good for kidney function and health. It also says Vitamin B6 and Magnesium are required for proper kidney function, and that a lot of people unknowingly have both of those vitamin deficiencies.

I understand this, and I understand you are just trying to research ways of improving your friends health. However if these herbal remedies had any merit what so ever, they would be used today, is all I'm trying to imply.

Actually, I probably have a liver today because when I was being given a daily IV of extremely caustic liver-damaging antibiotics, for three straight years, my physician - a traditional internal medicine specialist at one of the leading medical complexes in the country, encouraged me to take Milk Thistle, a liver supporting herb. Since you don't believe they are worth even investigating, I won't give you the details - but don't discourage others from at least researching potential help.

To the OP, I'm sorry that my own research and knowledge has not included support of kidney function. Keep looking - but make sure that your friend speaks to there physician about any herbal remedies they want to try. Good luck to both of you.

used to get kidney infections regularly as a kid from drinking soda daily by the gallon practically and cranberry in any shape or form worked great for me and still does usually within a day depending (have read watermelon seed has same thing in it). There was a severe case as an adult one time that I could'nt determine exactly was the problem due to multiple symptoms but suspected it was my first liver infection and had read that buttermilk, common dandelion leaves and milk thistle (both available in extract or pills) were the top three best things for maintaining and healing the liver, but of course always check with the doctor beforehand specially if already taking something

If your friend is in the hospital or seeing
her physician on a regular basis most likely
they are trying medication. If she is
on medication I would not advise giving
her herbs unless you ask her physician.
Is she currently on dialysis? I will say
prayers for your friend, I hope she gets
well quickly. I know you feel helpless but
all you can do is offer emotional support
and let the medical staff do what they can
for her.

There are many herbs that offer renal support including other supplements like glandulars, etc.

Search "herbs for renal failure" and you do have quite a bit of info.

I'd maybe seek out someone who practices TCM for herbal support since her function has deteriorated so.

While she absolutely needs traditional care, therapeutic herbs can be a great adjunct for such a condition.

That said, depending on her underlying cause and condition, a professional herbalist would be best so that appropriate herbs would be prescribed.

I recently asked my Mother-in-law, who is a spiritual healer of sorts, about advice for a friend of mine who had kidney stones. Her ex-husband also had a lot of kidney stones, so she was fairly familiar with treating them.
Anyway, she advised a lot of raw asparagus. Like, a pound of it.
www.naturalnews.com...
This ^ website talks about the benefits of asparagus.
I know you didn't necessarily say your friend has kidney stones, but I believe asparagus is really good for cleansing your kidney's regardless.
Also, because we were talking about kidney stones, she said that after you eat about a pound of raw asparagus you should down a large bottle of Coke. Apparently the coke breaks down the calcium of the stones and thus helps pass everything much easier.
Plus, the kidney's functions is to detox and extricate the body of toxins. Thus, holding on to anger and resentment can affect the kidney and cause build ups. We have to change our mindset and thought patterns before we can truly fix the underlying cause.

Hope this helps.

And as for people who hate on herbal remedies and cures, well, they are haters, and have lost faith (or never found it) in trusting that our Mother Earth and Father God have provided us with everything we need. Yes, western medicine has its many benefits, but your body is designed to co-exist with nature, not with synthesized chemicals that are designed to alleviate the symptoms and never deal with the cause.

ALSO,
found this site www.healself.org...

And yes, I do feel helpless. most of the time

I'm sorry, but I can't offer any advice on the subject as far as herbs go; but I've had kidney stones before, extremely painful ones, and they are mostly made of calcium. My doctor suggested I cut back on dark fluids like Coke, Tea, Coffee and the like. Clear fluids like 7Up or Mountain Dew don't have the same mineral or whatever it is in dark liquids that causes the buildup of calcium.

However, it sounds like your friend it a lot worse off than I was with a few kidney stones. I'll say a prayer for her right now, and keep good thoughts for her until she recovers.

Plenty of fluids, expecially blueberry juice, and water. That got Me through stage 4 cancer, which spread to my organs. Drink at least 2L a day. It flushes the body and works. I am alive today because my granddaughter would make Me drink, even when I didnt feel like it.

If it's a bacterial infection, you're able to dilute coconut oil and/or peppermint oil... Down it in some R/O water. To keep the immune system up to par grab those Emergen-C packs. Any more extreme and dialysis is shortly behind.
