"If we spend time in it [the vast spaces of nature], they may help us to accept more graciously the great, unfathomable events that molest our lives and will inevitably return us to dust."
(Alain de Botton)

I just can't get enough of this stuff. To understand the universe is to understand ourselves. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

That's actually a philosophical observation.

Namaste!

Potato, Tomato...

Could be scientific...could be philosophic...either way is cool and whoever gets there first wins.

Cheers!

What I can't wait to see is when Voyager gets to that next step....outside the "known" universe. If I could survive it and live long enough.....I would definitly take THAT ride!

Quick...look over here...that's me in the passenger seat!

I'll take the Con when you need a rest. It's gonna be a long trip so make sure you use the washroom before we go. I don't wanna hear "I gotta pee" or "Are we there yet?"

I swear, I'll turn around!

So I'll bring the beers if you bring the Funions. ('

I love the cosmos and I feel evermore connected with it as I learn more and more about it.

So deep...

So mind boggling!!!

Me too Butter! That's why I love ATS. It's the place where I find kindred souls. In my "real" world, when I try to talk about things like this, people's eyes glaze over
I don't see how anyone could NOT be interested in this! I mean, in the grand scheme of things, our day to day drama means NOTHING. I would much rather contemplate the wonder of the universe and where we came from .....instead of who Kim Kardashian is marrying, or Lindsay Lohan's latest fall off the wagon!

You're very welcome....the thing that fascinates me the most is the sheer SIZES of everything.....I can never get over it. Our own planet is so miniscule, that it boggles the mind. THIS video blows my mind............and these are only the stars we KNOW about! There may be other things out there that makes even these huge objects seem tiny.

Glad you enjoyed it
Even though we have all seen things such as this before, I think it's important to stop and put things in true perspective every now and then.
