It's odd that no-one dared to create a prominent public presentation like this about Bush during his eight years in office. Or was there one and I never saw or heard about it. After all, Bush himself said or pointedly implied that he'd like his job better if he had true dictatorial powers, never mind that as president he did all he could be a dictator.

Washington state is not seceding and there has never been talk of seceding here. Whoever said that has monkeys flying out of their hind quarters.

Umm... no. The accentuated ears, lips, teeth and noise coupled with the reduced cranial dome is classic racism. It is designed to make him look like a chimp or sub-human.

I think Plato, concerned for truth would look at Nancy Pelosi's actual quote

Considering the "fog of controversy" at the time included such disproven gems as "Death Panels" and "Microchips" I think most rational minds understood what the intention of her statement was.

And for those that lean right who also think rationally...the quote was truncated and altered to mean something different, lest thier rational mind interfere with the spin the right wing media was putting out.

I'll give you hint...she never said the word "before".

Poor wording on her part, but far from what the right portrayed her statement to be.

You brought up Plato my friend. I merely tried to show how Plato and democracy doesn't work when someone suggests that even members of Congress should pass a bill proposed by a group of people before they get to see the bill. It's just preposterous. Even the Bush admin didn't do that. Although pushing a billl through that gave Congress little time to read and digest was bad, it wasn't the same thing.

The fog of controversy has nothing to do with demanding Congress pass a bill without seeing it first. That was just Nancy's particular form of obfuscation, because you see she wanted to hide what was truly in the bill. It's just that simple and it's not even up to Socialist standards of democracy.

Congress saw the bill. Both Conservatives and Democrats. Thus the dishonest distortions that gave us the "Death Panel" and "Micro-chip" lies.

It is silly to infer that the GOP didn't know what was in the bill...they wrote most of it!

Of the 788 amendments filed, 67 came from Democrats and 721 from Republicans.

Only 197 amendments were passed in the end—36 from Democrats and 161 from Republicans.

I understand how inconvenient factual evidence is to the swamp of right wing propaganda....but facts are facts.

Edit to add: My favorite part of the HCR debate was when the GOP moaned about how many pages the bill was, when they were responsible for it's size...with over 700 amendments.

Kinda like them kicking the economy in the balls with the protracted obstructionism and the S&P downgrade that followed when they finally got thier way and then complaining that the economy is not recovering fast enough.

I give them points for shamelessness, that's for sure
