A DUTCH court today sentenced a Moroccan-born man to 16 months in jail for threatening to launch terrorist attacks in the Netherlands unless Dutch troops withdrew from Iraq.
The Hague District Court heard the 31-year-old man was arrested in April after he sent emails to the Dutch national broadcaster NOS demanding the Netherlands withdraw its troops within days.
He also sent a threatening letter to the Israeli Embassy that prompted extra security measures, and sent the prime minister's office "an envelope containing white powder that looked like anthrax and a very threatening letter".
