Actualy your correct, if the was a tax on kids then not only birth rates in poorer familys would go down but also diseases like HIV and AIDS too

I do support such restrictions in overpopulated countries, too. But I would rather see well enforced two-child policy, so that child can have a sibling. Chinese population is so high that they need a reduction, not just stabilisation, and that may be the rationale for one-child limit, tough.

Reasonable policy perhaps, with incentives to follow it....but not forced or criminal if one chooses to disregard it.

Why not?

I live in Philippines which is also an overpopulated country.
When I see more than two children per family I get goose bumps.
These children have no hope for a better life. ABSOLUTELY NONE !!!
Having more children in an overpopulated country will only aggravate the family's problems rather than improving overall.
China's policy of birth planning is actually beneficial for future generations.
India doesn't have such policy, guess how they will reduce their population numbers? Through war !
